Why is it the time just DRAGS so much when you are waiting for pups? It's worse than waiting for Christmas when you're a kid! Been prepared since day 59 just in case, now we are on day 63. She didn't want her breakfast, pooed sloppy stuff indoors THREE TIMES so we thought great, this is it. Then she suddenly demanded LUNCH and had a big bowl full, her temp hasn't dropped at all, no panting and pacing yet, and she's holding on tight- I want to see my puppies!!!!
- By HuskyGal Date 21.04.06 15:16 UTC
"a watched pot never boils" my mum used to say :D
I still never learned to be patient...its half the fun!! :D :D
- By Goldmali Date 21.04.06 15:25 UTC
Aw I keep watching "the pot" to see that it is still BOILING! ;) And it is, it's moving like crazy! :D
- By MINI-MEG [gb] Date 21.04.06 16:25 UTC

Because the puppies are waiting for it to warm up. See how smart they are already!!
- By Goldmali Date 21.04.06 15:26 UTC
LOL!! Yes very considerate, they don't want me to have MORE muddy paws than I already have!!!
- By Dogz Date 21.04.06 15:47 UTC
Ooooh how exciting for you...the anticipation, it cant be too long now and what fun there will be, good luck I do hope its not to much more of a wait.

Our litter is only 2 weeks so I remember very well how you feel....

Good luck Marianne!  Give the girl a big hug!  Will be keeping everything crossed for you.

Sarah.
- By RRfriend [se] Date 21.04.06 21:18 UTC
Good luck, Marianne! Will keep everything crossed for a safe and quick delivery. Looking forward to hearing all about the litter. I know how you feel, though, the waiting seems so long, and all you want is to meet the puppies. :-p
Still, I must say I envy you. At the moment I'm waiting for my girl to come into season, she's two weeks late, which feels like two months!
If nothing happens tonigh, I hope you will get a good night's sleep, you will probably need it :D
Karen
- By Goldmali Date 21.04.06 21:23 UTC
Nothing going on yet at all. We KEEP telling her now would be a GrEAT time -nothing on TV, and it's not in the middle of the night! But no, she's waiting! Think I will have an early night and get some sleep -but set the alarm a few times just in case as well.
- By Goldmali Date 22.04.06 09:05 UTC
Another day and still nothing. I'd worry if I couldn't see the pups move about all the time but I can! :)
- By Carrington Date 22.04.06 09:08 UTC
Patience, Patience, :-D

Can't wait to hear what you have, it's so exciting awaiting the pitter, patter of tiny feet.  Not long now.

Good luck to you both. :-)
- By Goldmali Date 22.04.06 09:17 UTC
It's not just me being impatient, it's the puppy buyers as well, LOL!! :D

Guess I best do some housework to pass the time............
- By wylanbriar [gb] Date 22.04.06 09:57 UTC
...... even the tension of waiting shouldn't drive you to RIDICULOUS lengths.... ;-)  ;-) Next you'll be starting to consider where you last left your iron....tisk tisk!  ;-)  ;-)

Sunday morning day 65 and STILL nothing. She refused food yesterday morning and all day, slept all day, then at 11pm decided she was hungry and so ate. Now in the early hours temp has dropped further (been up several times in night to check on her), she has been digging in the box and she refused breakfast, now back to sleeping again. She's fine but oh the wait!! (Of course, she could have taken at 2nd mating as opposed to first! Making it just 63 days today.) I'm getting a tad worried at her timing, tomorrow is my middle daughter's 11th birthday and I need to go over to her house (she lives with her dad) and take her cake and presents in the afternoon -the plan was hubby would stay here with the pups. But if the pups aren't BORN or are being born, I can't go. Hubby says I'm nuts, a child comes before a dog, I say HE is totally off his trolley, if it's a choice between a child's birthday and a bitch giving birth, there is nothing to even consider, is there. But obviously I don't want to disappoint my daughter so HURRY UP!!!!!

Lesson here for everyone considering breeding: I had everything ready by day 58 to play safe, as you MUST. First litter was born on day 59! Which means I have now been housebound for a full week as there is no way I can risk leaving a heavily pregnant bitch. So it can take a LOT of time even before the pups are born.
- By Carrington Date 23.04.06 09:48 UTC
Goldmali  to husband of course you are not nuts. :-)

Your daughter will understand, you can't leave your girl, how would you ever forgive yourself if a pup should be born and the sack not opened or a breech, you need to be on call now 24/7 no matter what. Forget everything else including hubby's sarcastic looks. :-D  Your the one that needs to be there.
- By STARRYEYES Date 23.04.06 10:04 UTC
I would nip around now with her pressy better to get it before so she can open it on her birthday then you can ring her on her birthday and you will be around for the birth. :)
- By Goldmali Date 23.04.06 11:09 UTC
Good idea but unfortunately I also have to MAKE her birthday cake and that was today's job so isn't done yet. :)

It will work out one way or another, she will understand -she's as excited about the pups as I am. :)
- By STARRYEYES Date 23.04.06 19:39 UTC
blooming heck Marianne making birthday cakes too... your a gem!
I've never made a birthday cake in - my -  life but do enjoy eating them ...too many of them too by the look of me!  ;)

Roni
- By Goldmali Date 23.04.06 22:12 UTC
LOL, I don't like English cakes much so always make my own. :)

STILL NO PUPS!!! (Yes, she IS pregnant!!)
- By chocymolly [in] Date 24.04.06 10:52 UTC
Any puppies yet?
- By Goldmali Date 24.04.06 11:26 UTC
Yes! At last! Last night she was in the whelping box but sleeping and didn't look like she'd be doing anything soon, so we decided to go to bed and set the alarm for 2 hours later to go and check on her. Well we'd been in bed for just 5 minutes when she started HOWLING so I knew she wanted us right back down. First pup arrived 12.45 am, last one 3.02, 6 in total -4 boys and 2 girls. All doing really well. :D
- By Teri Date 24.04.06 11:46 UTC
Congratulations Marianne &, of course, Ripley!

Aw, bless, puppies ...... makes me all broody (but for a fluffy one :D )   Glad everything went well.

Many congratulations Marianne and Ripley :) Can't wait to see the puppy pics!
- By Goldmali Date 24.04.06 21:14 UTC
Thanks ALL! Not been on the computer much today, been either in front of whelping box :D AND of course did make it to daughter's birthday too!

Yes Yvonne I'll be keeping a bitch, hoepfully to breed from one day in the far future if all turns out well, and looking forward to showing and doing obedience as well. It's Ripley's final litter so I will need a girl. :)
- By feedee [gb] Date 24.04.06 20:37 UTC
Congratulations Hun, forgive me for asking what breed are yours??
BigX's to your brave girl.xxx
- By Goldmali Date 24.04.06 21:14 UTC
Feedee I'm not allowed to state the breed here I'm afraid as it is against the terms of service for Champdogs. :)
- By kayc [gb] Date 25.04.06 08:07 UTC
Congratulations Marianne & well done mum :D
- By chocymolly [in] Date 23.04.06 10:04 UTC
I know how you feel, being housebound ,

I was waiting for Molly from day 57, taking her temperature twice daily, we went passed the 1st mating day and she produced on day 63 from 2nd mating, her temperature dropped at 9 a.m (lowest point) on the friday and she started having mild contractions at 11 a.m Saturday morning, having spent the previous 26 hours panting for England  and digging her bed.

I think your daughters father is being completely unfair and I too, am sure that your daughter will understand, 11 year olds are more mature now than when I was 11 :)
- By Dogz Date 23.04.06 12:11 UTC
Well i being a 10 year old kid  would rather know that my mums dog has had well born puppies as i might get a puppy for my birthday !
so buy the cake in a shop and when the dog has given birth then take present and cake then say "sorry for being late my dog has had puppies" to your daughter then if you want to make her feel even better give her a pup (when it is old enough to be given away)
Hope this helps
KD(Karens Daughter)
- By RRfriend [se] Date 23.04.06 22:16 UTC
I'm sure your daughter will understand, Marianne. Unless the pups have arrived by now, in which case it's not a problem anymore. As for OH being less understanding, I've been through an even worse scenario. My last litter clashed with MIL's funeral. Very difficult to explain to my father in law that I might not be able to attend.
In the end the pups were born two days before the funeral, and my friend came over to watch mum and pups while I was away.
