Why oh why have I decided to move house again  Everytime I move, I tell the OH to remind me how stressed I was if I ever mention those three little words again ... "lets move house"  We have been buying since last September, the first house fell through as we were gazumped at the last minute and the purchase of the one we are now buying has been nothing but hassle.

On top of all that, we had a litter of pups, and 2 new additions to the doggy family.......wheres my prozac....... :D :D :D :D
- By LJS Date 21.04.06 09:02 UTC
Come and buy mine and I promise we won't give you any hassle ;) :D

No I am with you 100% on what you say :rolleyes:

I had my estate agents grovelling this morning after yesterdays cock up

They were so apologetic

Well the viewers that came out yesterday have put an offer on a house way under the value to chance their arm but if they don't get it accepted then they will put an offer on ours so maybe there is a glimmer of hope for us :)

Keep fingers crossed yours all works out ;)

I know exactly how everyone's feeling regarding home moving. We should have been nicely settled into our new home by Easter but our buyers pulled out on the day we were to exchange contracts:mad: Their excuse?? 'weve decided not to bother buying in the UK now as were going home' - they were a middle aged carrabean couple. We were and still are absolutely mortified, our house is now back on the market and we are paying rent to the vendor of the house we are going to buy to secure the purchase, we can't decide whether to move into the new house or stay put until we get another buyer - I'm itching to move into the new one but we feel that this house will sell easier 'dressed', it's a nightmare! Hope we all get buyers very soon!!

Having been looking at houses recently for my mother, I think a house with the bare minimum of furniture (so it looks bigger!) and kept at show-house standard will sell quicker than one being lived in; proof of vacant possession is a big selling-point.
- By luvhandles Date 21.04.06 16:58 UTC
I agree with you Jeangenie although it's all or nothing. We can't really leave any furniture here if we move out because we will need the majority of it. Our bedroom will definatley sell better empty as it's not very big......As I type the estate has called - we have a veiwer at 6.30pm!!!!! Keep all crossed!!:D

What an absolute nightmare  At least last time we were gazumped we were going to rent out our current property so didn't have a problem in that respect, but now ours is sold and I am just dreading anything happening at the last minute.  Perhaps buying houses is a little like childbirth - you always say never again when you are in labour, then a couple of years down the line you find yourself doing all over again :D
- By LJS Date 21.04.06 16:46 UTC
What a nightmare for you  That happened to my OH and the cheekie so and so put in another offer a week after she had pulled out. He told her to politely to go where the sun don't shine :D

I am going to take the other couple who are doing the second viewing on Monday hostage until they sign to say they will buy the house and will not pull out or muck us about. Do you think you can get arrested for that sort of thing  :D
- By Annie ns Date 21.04.06 16:50 UTC
Why don't we have the same laws in England as they have in Scotland?  I understand (someone from Scotland will put me right if I've got it wrong! :)) that in Scotland, you have the survey done before putting in an offer and once the vendor has accepted the offer, it is binding to both parties.  Think what tons of stress would be saved.  Instead we get this really stupid idea of a seller's pack :(
- By newfiedreams Date 21.04.06 17:13 UTC
Well, that's whats SUPPOSED to happen....my buyers, when I was selling in Scotty Land, were selling their house in Norfolk and that sale fell through, so did ours then...a week before completion!!! Luckily one of the other buyers that put in a bid still wanted it and had nothing to sell, so it worked out well in the end...it usually does...it's just waiting for the bl***y END!!! LOL:eek:
- By Annie ns Date 21.04.06 17:24 UTC
A combination of Scottish and English moving laws must be an absolute nightmare!  Did the people in Norfolk have to give you loads of dosh when they pulled out?  I last moved house nearly five years ago and still remember the trauma .  I currently have two friends both trying to move and using me as the agony auntie when it all gets too much :)
- By newfiedreams Date 21.04.06 17:36 UTC Edited 21.04.06 17:38 UTC
NOPE didn't receive a penny!!! I think they STILL have to sign and exchange contracts the same way we do...and as people are more mobile than years ago, I think the system has become much more flexible, with Solicitors not keen to commit their clients till the get go...no different to England now really!!!

Edited to add....we have finally sold our house a couple of weeks ago!! Though we moved out last year it was still like a rock around our necks...I have EVERY sympathy with anyone involved in a sale and the whims and fancies of sellers and buyers!!!
- By luvhandles Date 21.04.06 17:41 UTC
Veiwers been and gone.........doesn't look good as they were Asian (I have nothing against Asian's) BUT!!! we have had about ten Asian veiwers and they all say that the house is too small:mad: It's a 3 bed terraced with 1 en suite and 2 receptions....don't know what they expect for £99,950 and its gorgeous if I do say so myself:rolleyes: Fed up now!!!

Yay! Fantastic! :D :D Open the bubbly!
- By luvhandles Date 22.04.06 16:45 UTC
Ahhh Thanks! I feel sooo relieved although I'll be waiting for something to go wrong again now...........won't rest until contracts are signed and exchanged.

Lucky moo! :D
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 23.04.06 08:39 UTC
OMG  a 3 bed house for less than 100k?  Wow!  I didn't know that was possible!  Amazing - there's hope for young people yet.

My total sympathy goes to anyone in the process of house buying.  Yesterday was spent moving my elderly mum out of her home that she's been in for the last 42 years.  It was heart wrenching and very difficult, both logistically, physically and emotionally,

No wonder they say it's one of the most stress inducing activities.
- By Sullysmum Date 23.04.06 12:30 UTC
I was just going to say how cheap that was too!
- By Goldmali Date 23.04.06 13:19 UTC
Hey mine is available for 85K: 3 bed EXTENDED end terrace (living room is 27 foot long and there are 2 bathrooms) with 90 foot long back garden! :D But the neighbours hate dogs, sorry!!!
- By luvhandles Date 23.04.06 15:38 UTC
Were in Preston, Lancashire. Its not the greatest of areas but our little road is very quiet and well kept. We are buying a 2 year old 3 bed semi with garage and gardens in a very nice area for £145k.
- By spiritulist [in] Date 23.04.06 16:12 UTC
Don't want to worry you luvhandles, but our estate agent used to work in Birmingham and has told me that you can get into an office to complete and because the big families share homes and don't have to move in that day, they can turn around and say they won't sign unless the price is dropped there and then. This, she says happens a lot, so just aware!
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 23.04.06 21:10 UTC
I get very uncomfortable with anything that could be construed as a covertly racist comment.  The comments made above did not need to mention race.

Spiritualist - I'm not sure this is the case, as once contracts are exchanged, you are committed.
- By newfiedreams Date 23.04.06 21:51 UTC
A LOT of people exchange and complete on the same day now... Unfortunately it makes you even more vunerable...our couple thought they were completing our sale one Friday, they were sat there waiting for the get-go...but it didn't happen till the following Thursday! The delay was even down to them...what hope have you got??!!!
- By jazzywoo Date 24.04.06 10:53 UTC
Congratulations luvhandles, we have just sold our house too after being on the market 3 hours .  The house prices here (lincs) have rocketed but are stil very cheap compared to nationwide.  Hope your sale goes smoothly :).
- By Blues mum Date 24.04.06 13:41 UTC
Thats even Jammier!! 3 Flippin hours! lol
