I would make sure that he has all his vaccinations though, i hear that parvo is pretty rife here at the moment, don't know how true it is but it's better safe than sorry.Enjoy your holiday.

diffinatly got vacs up to date for to loved by us, Dont suppose you'd know if we book to travel on the ferry are they supposed to remain in the car etc? or does she get to wander round with us? Not done this before, first puppy. normally we're off to some where new and exotic but thats all changed now, we want her to be able to  come too.

Dogs have to stay in the car, but on some boats like the Norse Mercant ferry you can book kennels for the dogs but I wouldn't bother as the dog is much better in the car comfortable in its own bed!

Yup i agree with king of bling, much better if you keep the dog in your car ;) Sometimes the kennel dont have locks on them ect, i wouldnt put my dog in one. We regularly go to ireland to dog shows and you dont have to tell the ferry company that the dogs are going with you (unless you want to book a kennel) you just take them with you. Unfortunatly you cant go down and see you dog once the doors have closed, so make sure that they have been for a wee ect and they are comfortable, most of the time they go to sleep anyway and are quite happy. Hope this helps! :D

You could get a fast ferry, the Seacat, it's only around 1.5-2 hours.Don't use the kennels, as the other posters said, there are no locks on them.
Where are you sailing from - to?

thank you everyone included. We're hoping to go on a horse drawn caravan holiday so we're a bit open as to where to head to, She's crate trained so hopefully she'll sleep for the journey as suggested. We were just worried about the passport and the notifying the ferry company although we plan a passport for next year to take her to France it wont be ready in time for this year.
