How do I go about getting one for a new employer, and what does it cost. Any one know.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.04.06 16:41 UTC
I thought it was the new employer's responsibility to organise that sort of thing?

I think too that it is the employer's responsibility.

My colleague has been applying for jobs recently that require the POCVA (Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults)  checks to be done. She has been offered two jobs by different employers and in both cases, they sent off for the checks to be carried out. This is in N. Ireland though I should add.

your emplyer should do it for you.  In Scotland it is done through disclosure scotland and depends on the level you need how much it costs.  I think an enhanced disclosure costs less than £20.

Try this -

I have to have one every 3 years for my job - the employer pays mine.

Can you contact the local police station for information?

Surannon posted a useful-looking link for employers to get details about new employees. :)

Have a look there. A google says: (from here http://www.artquest.org.uk/legal/disclosure.htm)

There are two ways of applying for a Disclosure. You will either be asked to:

- telephone the Disclosure application line on 0870 90 90 844, or
- complete an application form.

In both instances, you will be asked to provide information that relates to you personally. This will help the CRB to confirm your identity. When telephoning the application line, you will also be asked to provide the 11 digit Registered Body number which will be provided by the person or organisation who asked you to apply for the Disclosure.

- Contact Centre:
When all details have been provided to the Contact Centre, the part completed application form will be sent to you by post. When you receive the application form, please check that your personal details are correct and sign the declaration giving your consent to undergo a Disclosure check. It should then be sent to the person who asked you to obtain the Disclosure, together with any original identity documents that are requested.

- Application form:
Once you have completed the application form, please forward it to the person who asked you to apply for a Disclosure, together with any original identity documents that are requested.
