recieved a letter from  solicitor regarding an accident claim with this sentence included 'in order to recieve an intrim payment in respect of this head of claim. ...what does head of claim mean?

Sorry, haven't a clue Roni but it does appear to be a proper legal term.  Hopefully there's someone around here with legal knowledge. :)

well..that as what we thought oh why do they always send these letters on a Saturday morning when you cant ring them!!

If my memory serves me right a claim can have several headings so say if you've had an accident and incurred costs as a result of this then one 'head' of the claim will be for your injuries, another would be for medical expencies another for travelling expenses. Youc an usually get an interim payment for costs that can be proved at that point so basically anything you've got a recipt for.

thanks Becky ..now that sounds about right.The letter is my sons he was in a TA a few months ago the other party has accepted responsability.
