How's the mud holding up Carolyn? I hear the showjumping cancelled today due to the ring being too muddy!

I went to see the dog shows at Bakewell yesterday as it's very near to where I live. The car parks weren't too bad. They've put lots of metal plates down for cars to drive over to stop them sinking. The grassy pathways have been covered in loads of woodchip and felt mats. The felt mats ooze muddy water when you walk overthem. However without them you'd sink upto your knees in mud. Most of the trade stands looked like they were coping well with the damp ground and were situated alongside a tarmac road so walking around these wasn't a problem. Only saw bits of the horse events. Looked like they were still going ahead but under very poor ground conditions. We had more rain last night and this morning, so conditions won't have improved. Sensible footwear is definitely the order of the day. I felt sorry for the show dog people as the rings were getting very muddy. I did see some people wearing wellies and they definitely coped the best! Still worth going to the show, although I think the dog show bit is over now.
