The best piece of advice I can ever give any puppy owner is to get a
newspaper, roll it up very tight, secure it with a rubber band and
leave it on the coffee table.  Then when the puppy piddles in the
house,  chews up a slipper, or does anything it is not supposed to do,

simply take the newspaper and bang it on the top of your head very
hard while repeating........

  "I should have been watching my puppy"
  "I should have been watching my puppy"
  "I should have been watching my puppy"

Absolutely right! :)

can it be used on the OH when the puppy has an accident because your out and he's 'watching' :-D

Use it double on the OH when the excuse is "How was I supposed to know what he was barking for?" or the other classic "I'd told him I'd come and let him out when I'd finished posting this on the internet".

Its alot more satisfiying using a wooden mallet on the other half.

Lots of indepth conversations of should we get a pup or shouldnt we. Finally make the joint decision to go ahead and take the plunge. Spent the next 3months listening to oh saying "this was your idea" "its your dog" "you wanted one". Then finding the said pup and oh curled up watching telly ever soo cute. His excuse to this was "its only way to get a bit of peace"  Ah bless the joys of owning a pup. Would never change a thing (maybe one-get a new oh)
