Well I started a quit smoking group 2 weeks ago and I've been taking Zyban tablets for 10 days now and my quit day is tomorrow. But I haven't had a ciggy for 2 days now. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, I have smoked for 23 years.
I think I'm doing good.

HI Goldengirl, well done :)  my stop date is friday, last ciggy on thursday night !! ive been smoking for 23 yrs too !!!  i know ill do it this time as my mum has just been diagnosed with lung cancer, i went to the first chemo session with her the other day & there were 6 others there having chemo for lung cancer , it has really floored me, & scared me. im using patches & gum for 10 weeks, with weekly support from the surgery nurse. im gonna save up my ciggy money & take driving lessons, i spend £35 a week on ciggies :eek: £140 a month  keep up the good work GG , I will be joining you as a non smoker in 3 days time :)
- By goldengirl Date 11.04.06 20:42 UTC
Good for you misstyko, I'm still a non-smoker. Had an urge today, but told myself I didn't have one yesterday so I can do it.
Take it one day at a time, if you want to PM at any time feel free, I will know how you are feeling.

Good Luck you can do it.

Well done Lynn! After helping my husband, father and many friends go through this all I can say is stick with it and don't let a slip-up turn into giving up. You can do this and you will be glad at the end. Hey, put all that tab money into a piggy and go for a sunny weekend break for your 6 month milestone
- By RHODAP [in] Date 11.04.06 08:47 UTC
Well done!!

As a non smoker working with Lung Cancer patients it's the best thing you could do.
- By goldengirl Date 11.04.06 20:48 UTC
Thanks everyone for your support, today was harder than yesterday. But I haven't had one.

Well done Lynn :) It can only get easy one day at a time. So one day becomes two and before you know it, it will be one week then two . Just keep going and just think how healthy you will be  :)
To everyone that is giving up ,JUST DON`T GIVE UP :)  Keep Trying!!!

hi Goldengirl, how are you getting on ? well i stuck my patch on last night , after my last cigarette, only been up 2 hours, but i would normally have had about 6 ciggies by now  ive had 2 coffees & how much nicer they taste without a ciggie !!!! i took a photo of my beautiful mother last week, have put in in a frame to remind me that cancer is inside her lungs , she is only 17 yrs older than me , 61. i feel so positive that i will succeed , to become a non smoker, :)
- By justlou Date 14.04.06 08:28 UTC
Good Luck Caron :-) You can do it!

Same to you Lynn :-D

Don't look at it as you've quit....just take every day as it comes :-)

Hi everyone, I'm on day 6 now and still doing well. went to doctors yesterday for a hormone implant in my tummy, I don't like needles and this was the mother of all needles, know how puppies feel when they have micro chips done, anyway really needed a ciggy after that, but I didn't.
You can do it misstyko, It is hard but loads of others have done it and so can we.

Good Luck Lynn.

Good for you misstyko!! What will you do with all that extra money now. It must be some treat to reward yourself for being amazing.
- By goldengirl Date 19.04.06 20:55 UTC
Now on day 11 and doing well. Saved £60 now, but lost it last night, Megan my 5 month old newfie stole my handbag while I was at work and tore 3 £20 notes up into shreads and my cheque book.
If ever I need a fag then that was it, but I didn't.

Oh dear - poor you :( If you have got the bits - including the numbers from both sides, the bank will refund the notes :)

- By Lori Date 20.04.06 17:32 UTC
Oh a real test. Megan probably just wanted to prove how strong your character is. Well done Lynn. Just think though, 60 quid after 11 days. You'll be going to Barbados not Spain for the weekend when you treat yourself.
- By saffismum [gb] Date 20.04.06 19:51 UTC
You both keep at it! Once you get past 8 weeks apparently, then you've cracked it. I gave up twice, first for a year 2nd for 6 months but I'm not ready to do that again.........yet. I don't buy packet ciggies, I roll my own with filters and papers and it is much cheaper. Having said that, I probably only smoke about 10 a day.

however I rarely drink or go out and with hubby and a step daughter I need 1 vice!
