I'm planning on putting my bitch to a stud dog in Belgium and something just occured to me.I take it that the stud dog would need to be registered in the country where the pups are being registered.Any info would be much appreciated.

The details covering this are on the KC litter reg form, but the basics are, The litter registration form must be accompanied by a 3 or 5 generation pedigree certified by the appropriate foreign kennel club. The additional cost involved is £20 for a 3 gen and £25 for a 5 gen.

So no, the stud does not need to be registered in the UK.

Sorry, just realised you are in Ireland, so my info is not relevant.

I heard somewhere that the stud might need to be registered in ireland, i'll probably check it out with the IKC.

Isn't the IKC part of the FCI ? If so I would have thought that as long as the dog is FCI registered & you get all the required info you should be ok

The KC is not part of the FCI so you need the certificates etc.

My friend in Germany has GSDs & her dog was used on bitches from other FCI countries & the FCI/SV registration was sufficient
