Topic Other Boards / Foo / Getting Petrol Lawnmower started?!!!??!?!!
- By Emily Rose [gb] Date 15.04.06 12:14 UTC
It's that time of year again...for us anyway, we leave it as long as possible and the grass out the back is getting rather long! Only problwm being that I can't get the darned lawnmower started! We had the same problem last year, my dad got it going in the end but he's not here today :(

Has anyone got any tips..plz :D

Do you always drain off the petrol when you store it away?  you should always do so and then start with fresh the following season

We're very bad at maintaining our lawn-mower :D Having said that, we've had it for 21 years and it's only been serviced (by OH) about 4 times and never gets drained down each winter - it nearly always starts first time tho' and (apart from new blades a few times) hasn't never been a problem :)

Do you wanna send your OH round here to get our started please Daisy? I tried 4 or 5 times..watch my dad get it going first time, that would be typical :D

Try spaying the spark plug with WD40 (obviously take cap off)
Also keep priming but try starting every 3 pumps to avoid flooding the engine

Same thing happened to ours last year a new spark plug and fresh oil did the trick. As said spraying spark plug with wd40 should help.
