Ive been looking at complete puppy food,is the most expencive the best?
Because for instants,i phoned my local petstore up and for a 15kg of beta complete puppy food its £19.99 but for hills science plan its £38.00 for the same bag.
is most expencive best or is the cheaper brands just as good ?
Its really back to what suits your dog

Thankfully dogs are not aware how much different foods cost, so stick with whatever your dog thrives on :D

If you do a search, you'll find as many opinions as to what makes good feeding for dogs as there are pe:rolleyes:ople on the board!
I don't think there is much correlation between price and what's best. If I were you, I'd look at the ingredients first :)

The most important correlation is between the dog and the food. However cheap or expensive, if it doesn't agree with your dog then it's a waste of money.
Personally I don't give mine expensive dog food but they are happy with what they eat and healthy too. Something must be right.

I don't believe price has any bearing on it :) Asparagus costs a lot more than other vegetables simply because it is not a very productive plant and has a very short season but it is not likely to be any more nutritious and in fact some people don't like it at all! :) The same with cuts of meat. Unless your dog has an intollerance I wouldn't bother picking and choosing ingredients either. They are, after all, just a means of obtaining the required level of nutrients that all complete foods in the UK will certainly supply anyway. The bottom line is your dog has to like it and it has to suit any particular digestive nuances they have which for the average dog is......well, average :)
Hi Sarah,
I was paying £15 for a 10kg bag of Aurtarky and now am on Adult and still pay £15 but for a bag thats 15kg! :D And i personally think this is a really good food! :)
And caviar's really expensive but I think it's gross :)

I think even the toffs are just pretending to like it.LOL i agree :D Anyone tried Dom perinon(sp?),tastes like urine! Well not that i know what wee tastes like, but i imagine it would taste like Dom

As for is expensive better... I think the more expensive foods use better ingredients in that they usually have more meat and *whole* foods rather than more grain, meat by-products and fractions of foods like the cheaper products tend to use, unless ofcourse we are talking science plan, euk and other imported foods, then you tend to be paying more for the freight charges etc rather than the ingredients
And we all know the best chocolate is Cadburys, and that's really cheap.
I'd rather have a load of Cadburys than really expensive chocs!

Mmm Cadburys my favourite. Bought a big bar today which I am going to melt and dip strawberries in for after lunch tomorrow. I've started a diet this week (diet 1,362 ) so I will not be eating the chocolate dipped strawberries but will be leaning towards the plate inhaling deeply :D

>use better ingredients in that they usually have more meat and *whole* foods rather than more grain,
that's only "better" if you have the kind of dog that thrives on heavily meat weighted foods. None of mine have been and have done much better on grain weighted foods so for my house
that has been "better" so no one food type is better in my opinion :)
