Topic Dog Boards / General / Dogs and Dysons??

Have just had a Dyson engineer to my washer. they came out sat and within 20 mins it blew again. Engineer came again today and exactly same thing happening. Now got to wait for them to reschedule unless they can get hold of engineer. " weeks washing building up!!!!!!!! Not impressed.

But anyway to the point...It was a different engineer a my old one is redundant (not enough work on as machines are working better LOL..not mine!) who says I should not wash any dog stuff in it. That was why I bought it as it was bigger to hold vet bed and the dsales man said it would be ok. we have 7 GSPs and a GWP so hardly  mega hailr problem and as they all live in house there are no kennel blankets or anything. He rekoned that the insurance will not keep paying out cos of the dog hair etc. just wondered how anyone else faired with their Dyson. On average they must come to me 3/4 times a year for various things but there are 7 people living here so have the washer on 3/4 times a day anyway!  :(

No experience of Dyson waching machines BUT the stuff about pets is standard Dyson policy if you ask them -they will also not honour the guarantee for their vacuums (even if an Animal one) if you have more pets than they consider normal, i.e. more than 2 or 3.

I have a cheap Zanussi washing machine, have had it for 4 ½ years and I wash on average 2 loads a day PLUS a least 3 or 4 loads of very hairy animal blankets each week, so it's used a LOT and it's never broken down yet. :)

I have the really cheap two turny knob Bosch, the panel that hides the filter knob has broken off, it is a bit bashed where I threw a marrow bone through the door from the living room and hit it, and it is still going strong 8 years later.

I wash all the dog towels and vetbed from hairy fluffy Elkhounds five at one point and yet the filter hardly clogs.

Having said al that it will break down now, but at £180 that it cost I ahve had good value.

I feel for you Star. It's horrible being without a washer. I had to build a garage in my last house before I could hook mine up (don't like them in the kitchen) and was without one for months. Ack. Plus, I bought a large American style washer and dryer that were sitting there taunting me. I kept wondering if I could run it with no water hook-up. I hope you get it sorted soon. Then again if it means hubbie is doing the laundry...

I feel for you, my old one gave up the ghost a couple of months ago and becuse i couldn't afford a new one right away, I had to do all my washing by hand for a few weeks and couldn't even spin it.
The washing line broke goodness knows how many times and the weather was against me and I couldn't hang it dripping round the house.
Sheets, towels and jeans were the worst.  Luckily i now have a lovely new one.

This might sound a really stoopid suggestion but have you ever thought of having two washing machines? Only with that amount of daily washing it'd be a deal easier and with the ability to split the load, the machines wouldn't wear out as quickly.
