I'm so happy and proud of myself at the moment.  Today I did my first bit of training for the race for life 5 KM run thinking I would go out today and see how far I can go comfortably and then work out a training plan with my own targets for each week...Well I managed to run the whole 5KM, not sure on time as didn't bother to time it but the point is I ran the whole distance so I'm just smiling so much.  I'm fitter then I thought I was so now all I need to do it work on speed and hopefully just get faster and make the run easier!

Just had to share my news, I know it's not dog related and it's not the best thing in the world but thats not the point! :D

Well done you.  I'm going to get fit for the Macmillan Cancer Fund as I'm doing a dog walk at the end of May.  Raised quite a bit already and only got the form yesterday!  Just got to decide now which dog to take :d

Hiya Donna, thanks.  I'm hoping to do it in under 40mins, if I train hard, with addrenalin added on the day I'm hoping to get it under 30 mins but I will see how my training goes :)

Well done . Looking after your health is dog related when you consider that if you begin in your youth to take care of yourself you may be fit and able to have dogs for many more years at the other end of your days than might have been otherwise :D

Thank you isabel!  keeping fit know means I can continue showing my setters!  Running round the ring is a challenge in itself! :D

Good luck to your son briedog.  I hope one day I will do a marathon but I will wait few years first and stick to short distances first! :D

Thanks HG,  I'm going to treat myself to a new stop watch as my old one doesn't work! so I'm going to find the time it's taking me, set a target time just to push myself that bit further!

Think I'm going to also have to treat myself to alot more chocolate....for energy of course! :D

Lea, last year I had to jog/run one of the dogs to build HIS muscle up.  When free run he was mooch so I had to force him to trot.  I have decided to train without him this time as I would end up stopping more to clear up poo!  He would do at least 3 on a run which I think will put my training out.

Can't take any other of the dogs as one has bad hips so limited exercise, the other paces and don't want to let her get that habbit, ones too old and ones too young :(

Good luck with your running  I would love to be able to go onto more then 5KM at some point but I will need serious training and the cheep rates of a uni gym I think! :D
