Topic Dog Boards / General / anyone with sainsburys?
- By mygirl [gb] Date 06.04.06 10:54 UTC
Both my danes are with sainsburys and i just went to put the new girl on and the quote has risen for danes by triple!!!

From £107 what i have been paying to £363 for meg!!!

Apparently axa the underwriters have revised the breed and have decided to pump it up. (as well as other breeds)

So beware your premiums maybe going up (dependant on breed) if you need to review we were lucky as we just renewed in Feb. (Go do an online quote and see if you are affected)

I'm not a happy bunny  AXA also do M&S but theres hasnt changed so far.

I stopped insuring mine two years ago....

Well we suffered with herman last year and it came to £3000+ for his treatment and for £30 a month for 3 danes it was no hardship, but it would be if i went with sainsburys again!

How old is Meg? I wonder if it goes up with the age of the Dane as they are classed as not paticularly long living breeds?
- By mygirl [gb] Date 06.04.06 11:14 UTC
Shes only 4 months and many friends with danes have done a quick quote different areas different ages and its all high premiums now.

I wonder if Danes are more popular - or if claims have risen?
- By mygirl [gb] Date 06.04.06 11:24 UTC
I just dont know :confused: i called them and they said AXA has shook up many breeds

I've just checked as I've been with them a year and never claimed. The quote is £383 from £118 for my Tibetan Mastiff. I'll be cancelling in May if they want that for the renewal!

Yikes I have my 2 Malamutes with Sainsbury's and my BC ... wiull switch everyone if we go up ... its expensive to insure 5 dogs .... :(

I've had a nightmare of a day!!:mad::mad: the majority of insurances have changed their policy and for the basic cover which is all i want they are only giving you a certain amount per condition and only for 12months!!(M&S, Direct line, Virgin) After that your on your own! (Unless you want to pay £30+ per month).

I found More Than at £16.14 per month gives me the same cover as sainsburys. (£6,500 per condition until the money runs out, £65 excess etc etc)

Seems theres been a major shake up within pet insurance? more people claiming or using now?

I went with MoreThan, and they stuck their prices up after the first year too...

£17.24 per month with PetPlan with £50 excess for Willis. And I can't fault them with my horses cover.

Pet Healthcare Services used to be OK....
Until they were bought out by MoreThan :(

MoreThan have hiked their premiums alot claiming that
vets bills etc have gone up, my vets bills haven't gone up
by what they've put their premiums!!

Although M & S state cover for 12 months, cover is actually provided for as long as you need it, as long as you renew!
