Hi,

I am currently looking into Insurance for our 9wk old Lab. We have the free 6 week insurance at the moment but want to get our own one into place for when this expires. I have found that Petplan  will provide cover for the life of an illness rather than cover for just a year after diagnosis. Does anyone know of any other companies that will do this as well? Thanks for your help. Lauren.

Hi Lauren, if you do a search you'll find lots of threads about insurance.

I'm with PetWise which is a 'maximum benefit' insurance.  Each illness/ailment is covered up to a maximum of £5,000.  I pay £7 a month for the Gold Plan covering a Sheltie.  Not had to claim so can't advise on that.  Did look into M&S, PetPlan etc etc.  Opted for the insurance I did cos of a) monthly premium b) cover offered c) cover limit d) the fact that the likelihood of our pup getting 1 illness/ailment costing more than £5k over her lifetime is relatively low *fingers crossed*

:)

My Mum's dog had a Liver Shunt and the op at the Animal hospital cost £1500 that did not cover the pre op tests and post op check ups or the special diet. It doesn't take long to reach your limit.
