We have really bad neighbours
We live in a flat above them ( its only two flats in building ) - they have back garden and we have the front. They are wierd and have all sorts off eerie men visiting day and night ( 2 came at 1.20 in the morning a few weeks ago and we think they're into something fishy......well , drugs actually!! Have rung crimestoppers about them and have kept diary for 3 months about activities , people who call etc and have also contacted the housing association we are both with but they too want a diary of events.

They bang doors , things have been taken out of our garden and their grandsons' freind has got on top of our  outbuilding and thrown pebbles through window at me ( police were called but don't know if anything was done ).

I can't take it anymore - i'm too scared to go in garden on my own incase they are about. The housing assoc will transfer but does anyone know whether you get a choice of where they move you to. It is taking so long for anything to be done - they are even living in a 1 bed flat ( mother 62 , son 43 , which is not allowed in the rules and have told housing assoc this so shouldn't that be automatically looked into?

Me and my boyfriend are on low wages and can't afford to rent privately or get a mortgage for our own house. Im starting to hate living here now and im scared about what they'll do next , please please can someone offer any advice beacause I don't know what else i can do.

Thank you in advance , Kate

Hi, was you given a contract? off the housing ass. Has an housing officer called out?
Did you have you complaint logged with the police?
If you have a contract, and the neighbours have defaulted in any way, and they have been
given a warning they can be evicted. You can ask not to be removed to an area that you
would not be familar with say friends and family that are local, as it's no fault of your own.
The Ass. like the Council are responsible for there tenants. Also there tenants behavour.

What an awful position for you to be in.

I don't know what else you can do but what I would do next is speak to Citizens Advice Bureau and see if they can point you in any useful directions.  Another thing I would suggest is that you visit your GP and tell him/her how this is affecting your health.  The stress of living day and night with the worry of what is going on  especially as it is affecting you directly i.e. stones through the window is very stressful.  Make sure the doctor documents the stress you are being put under.  This might help you in the long run.

I think crimestoppers is a good idea but don't know much about it. I know you are probably worried about anonymity but it might be worth talking to your local police station.  You don't have to give any details about yourself and they will at least be able to help advise you of where you stand legally.  Tell them how you feel your safety is at risk with all the strangers coming and going all hours.

Although you are housing association, your council might still be able to give you some useful advice.

I hope someone will be along soon to give you some concrete advice. These are just suggestions based on how I think I would act.

Hi , thank you for your replies so far. I could shoot myself sometimes - ive not long been to the docs for a prescription and mentioned that ive been getting really bad headaches and funny spells ( heat haze vision and numb feelings in hands ) and he asked if i was under any stress at work , home etc and i said no. Didn't think of this for a minute - this might explain the headaches then?!

Tha man underneath had one of his cars burnt out about a week ago , obviously someone doesn't like him! ( no job , but can afford 3 cars...hmmm  )

Have sent off diary of events to housing association today so hopefully might speak to someone soon.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation and if so haw did you cope with it?
Thanks , Kate

I have had smiliar here with neighbours on both sides one threatening me and the dogs with a BB gun and the other sending out Dog warden, RSPCA with BBC don't laugh it was too funny but not at the time, Enviromental health, DWP fraud investigation team apparently I have business breeding, dogs, rabbits guinea pigs and snails!  Thrown glass bottle bottoms and shotgun cartridges in the dogs run as well as rotten meat on the yard causing sickness and dire Rear in the dogs and threatend just before Crufts to 'sort you out'

He now finds himself on police 'Harrassment warning' which basically means any hassle at my house that is even suspected to be orchestrated by him will land him in jail, seems the police have lots of experience of this sort of thing such as friends and family used to knock on your door looking for them yep been there done that one lol.

How did we get to this stage it was diary's to the council's crime and anti social behaviour department and ask to see them about your problems and ask them to send a letter out to your neighbour advising them of dates and times incidents happend and that they will be issued an ASBO if they continue in this manner.  Once this is done any behaviour designed to intimidate or threaten is dealt with by the police who issue the Harrasment warning and you can ask for a weekly visit by the 'Beat Officer' for your area to help you cope with the stress and as a visual deterrant to your neighbour as they see the police arriving at all sorts of hours so have to watch what they're doing.

A letter from the coucil will get a reaction but no matter if you feel threatend or are threatend etc then the police have grounds to issue the warning earlier and get some drugs from the Dr to help with the stress in the short term whilst you get help dealing with the problem.
