Have just thought I better do something with our garden and am astounded how many dead grass patches we have. Has anyone got an answer - I have heard someone put tomato puree in with their food - is this right?? Also do you know a way of getting rid of the ones that are there - do I need to put grass seed down or is there an easier way?

Adding things like tomato works by altering the acidity of the urine but doing this runs the risk of causing things like kidney stones.  Some people rinse with water but that is hardly ecofriendly these days ;) so best just to accept it as part of living with dogs.  The grass always grows back, come the spring it will be growing faster than it is "balding" :)

Just leave it. The grass will grow back stronger and greener than before. :)

At least it saves on the mowing! ;)

Funnily enough we thought we would do something about the "Paris run" around our garden that consists of her pathway and wee patches.  Put some grass seed down and then put the compost from last years patio pots on top.  Question was how to stop her churning up or weeing on new seed.  Easy - 8 garden chairs strategically placed over the "Paris run" :)  So now garden looks set up for musical chairs.

Of course we are now watching to see where the new Paris run will go. We know our efforts are futile but it felt good trying to do something.  Are we mad?  Of course :D

I have got fed up with the garden looking a mess, so i have put my foot down and said the dogs can and must only go in the run for a pee. OH  does this most days but i keep finding poo on the lawn so they cant always be going in the run can they??!

Unless OH has stared doing his buisness on the lawn :D :D

Fed up with the children playing in the house becasuse dogs are in the garden. They do have their own large grassed run!!

I've just bought a lawn repair kit which consists of lawn food and lawn seed for my bare patches!  I started going out in the morning with the dogs and standing by them with a watering can and then watering down where they have done a wee - this seems to be stopping any more patches developing.
