Thanks soo much Everyone for taking the time to answer! a great help (as always!)

Well after much deliberation (and a near domestic in Comet!!!) we plumped for the VAX Rapide XL.
It has emerged (after OH assembled it to much swearing!) like R2D2 and is currently sitting in the middle of the room staring blankly at us...It has been sitting there since 2pm yesterday (untouched!)
Pup and myself are veiwing it with quiet mistrust..
Storm has the quizzical, side tilt of the head and is giving me the
"what on earth is that Mum?" Look.
and Im am returning it with the "Beats me pup!" look.

so the time has come I must overcome my techno-fear and put R2D2 to the- Siberian Husky clear up operation- test!!!
will let you know how it goes!!! (once Ive figured out these instructions!)
:D :D

Hi Huskygal,

Easy, Pick up the front clip releases the water tank, unscrew small tank below and put your carpet shampooer in. I put warm water in my tank, fill it up clip it back plug in, put all buttons on handle to on.
off- you- go. You will be shocked at the colour of the water in the succsion tank.
When the tank is full, it will make a air sound. clip the front off, unscrew the side, empty.
Then just slot back, it is heavy when full off water as the tanks are large ones. My lounge is 15ft wide by 34ft long. filled it about five times. BUT! the carpet is great. soooo pleased.
Regards
Denese

Denese! your a saint thanks for your help!
Im pretty much ready for action!
one question..there is (at the bottom by the wheels) a bit that says "attatch hose solution tube"

do you only need to attatch the tube if your using the hose???
- By denese [gb] Date 03.04.06 14:50 UTC
No!  not for now, just leave all the attachments for later, you may find that hubby
will come and have a mess with all that. Mine did:eek:He used the spray gun for the stairs and then the hose attatchment to suck up all the water. Its the one's you can also use to valet the car if you need to at any time. also any upholstery you may need to do. you will love it! It's easier than it looks.
Go girl.......

i was baffled my XL when i got it, but i'm well away now. I've lost the black cap that goes on the dirty tank thing though. Think Bu's probably stolen it! The tools thing is fairly easy, Olivia. I always leave the little tube that attaches to the side of the hoover, in, then just put the nozzle in the hole on the top of the dirty water tank, and flip the tools/floor thing down, when i actually use the tools. I always forget to flick it back to 'floor' though and wonder why theres no soapy water! I always rinse with water and brushes only, then finish off by having brushes only to pull up as much excess water as i can. Have fun!

Hi, sorry to butt in on this thread, but I've been dithering about getting a campet shampooer for a while now.  Is the XL and upright or a cylinder type?  I think an upright would be easier to use but maybe not so powerful - but I'm only guessing?
- By munkeemojo Date 03.04.06 20:42 UTC
its an upright. Its really good, but its quite big and heavy-especially when the water tank's full-this is one
- By ridgielover Date 03.04.06 20:48 UTC
Thanks, Nicola.  Is that the best place to buy one?
- By munkeemojo Date 03.04.06 20:56 UTC
not sure-i got mine from argos. It came with a free two pack of cleaner too. Tesco sell it for £146, whereas argos have it at £169 from £199. Its £199 from Vax, but you get 6 bottles of cleaner free-i think i paid £20 for two last time i bought some? I would definitely recommend the XL though. My friend has a bissel, and even she borrows mine. Its been round the neighbourhood, mine!

- By munkeemojo Date 03.04.06 21:33 UTC
i must be a wuss then tisha :D
- By tisha [gb] Date 03.04.06 21:44 UTC
but you have the xl which is heavier them the deluxe isnt it
- By denese [gb] Date 04.04.06 10:57 UTC
You can buy the shampoo at Asda, for your Vax. It is cheaper.
I had the delux Vax, but, had constant trouble with thw water tube.
So I thought can't keep on messing with it, so gave it away, and invested in
the Vax XL it is a lot bigger, and is heavy when filled with water, but you don't
need to pick it up while useing it. It seem's a little expensive, but, to have your
home cleaned once and any upholstery, would cost more, then you can valet
the car, so in the long run it is worth it!
- By munkeemojo Date 04.04.06 19:17 UTC
yeah it is-well i'm assuming so. Its a bit of a beast!
- By HuskyGal Date 07.04.06 11:41 UTC
