My husband has been offered a job which means relocating, and he will be working in York.  Can anyone recommend any nice areas to live either in York or surrounding areas? (maximum half an hours drive away) Thanks in advance :)

Lucky you I think all of that area is lovely, pretty pricey though ;)  I shall watch with interest on what those who know it better have to say :)  Meanwhile this site might help a bit for research.

I work in York, and I truley think it is one of the lovliest cities, it is a joy to just wander round...I dont know of many cities where I am happy to spend a day, even if I dont have a penny on me (so no shopping) it is nice just to be there!

We live in Riccall which is about 10 miles north of York, a nice little village...I would just take a drive around and see what you think, it depends on what type of area you would like really...I am more familier with the area north of York, towards Selby...there are so many lovely villages all around York it is hard to tell you which are the nicest areas! I have some family in Acomb, which is a really nice area too...
