i have reported a dog which is left out in all weathers today.  It has no shelter and has been in the rain since yesterday.  I have been feeding the poor little thing and so has a neighbour who says it is left all the time.  How long does it take before the rspca actually come out.  The women on the phone could not tell me how long it would be.  It is horrible to hear it crying to be in.  Is there anyone else i could call.  Thanks in advance.  Zach.

You could have given the R.S.P.C.A your telephone number (it's kept confidential) then when they visit this poor dog they'd call you to let you know they'd been and let you know the outcome :-)

I think they usually come out within 24 hours of recieving the call

the owners are not the type to approach, they rent the house and are sort of tennants from hell.  I did give the rspca my address and telephone number - i did not ask about letting me know the outcome, will they do this automatically.  If the rspca have not been out by tomorrow i will try the local dog warden.  It looks as though the dog has been let in the house as i cant see or hear him now, so im hoping they have been spoken to.  Thanks for your replies.

You should have a look on the kennel clubs own site they have loads of other organisations you could report to this person to plus theres actual laws against these conditions:cool:

They should do :-) May be they've already been spoken too then if they've let the dog in....or may be the R.S.P.C.A have removed the dog :-)

i hope so, dont think i could bear to hear it cry again tonight, my eldest boy already wants to go in and take it, he has a friend who would rehome it, but ive told him its out of the question, hes a bigger softie than me when it comes to people treating animals cruelly.

up till now i have not heard anything from the rspca, the dog was in the yard this morning so youngest boy went and fed him, i dont know if it was out all night as i could not see it and i couldnt hear it crying.  Its sitting on the windowsill at the moment crying to be in but they may have just put it out to clean itself (Keeping my fingers crossed).  I have been to my bedroom window about fifty times today and have not seen it since this morning.  If its out all night ill get back in touch with rspca and if i get no joy there ill phone local dog warden.  Another neighbour who has also been feeding it said it was out in some really bad weather lately so its not just a one off.  Anyway it looks like another restless night listening for the por thing crying... thanks for your replies.

unfortunately i seem to have hit a brick wall trying to get someone to help this dog.  I have phoned the RSPCA again to ask if anything has been done yet as there is no change in the dogs circumstances, but because i did not ask to know the outcome when i first telephoned they cant telL me.  They did say all calls are investigated and advice given but could not say when.  They said i should keep checking on it and if things have not changed in a week or two to call again.  I have phoned the local dog warden this morning but because it is not an enviromental issue they cant help.  The dog has to be barking and you have to keep a record for so long etc etc.  The poor thing isnt even crying to be in now it just wanders about the yard.  I was wondering about phoning the local police station, does anyone knowif they would help? or if anyone has any ideas they would be most grateful.  Thanks again in advance.

thats so horrible that poor dog to be honest i dont thing very much of the rspca a friend of mine phoned them to tell tell them about a gsd being abused the owner would beat the dog if it moved at all off its blanket so horrible they said cause it was getting food and water they wouldnt do anything, as for this dog does the owner know that you are feeding it mabye you should speak to them ask them if they want to get rid or sell the dog to u if there that sorta ppl to do that to an animal im sure that there the sorta ppl to do anything for money (scum) what sorta dog is it?

cant tell what sort it is i can only see its top half through hole on gate but it looks like some sort of terrier cross its only small. i think the owners are drinkers and not interested what anyone has to say.  another neighbour has asked them to turn down music a few times and just gets told to go away but in other words and the door shut.  I ve been trying to find out which landlord has their house but no luck so far, apparently it isnt one of the main landlords that have bought houses in this area.

Poor thing!
And it must be so frustrating for you too Zach Im sure, feeling that you just have to sit idly by,when you feel something could and should be done.
Unfortunately The police will not be able to help you (they will refer you) However it would be worth finding out who your Local 'Community Beat' officer is, especially if your going to keep a diary about this dog (which you should do and photo's if poss.) Have a chat with your Beat Officer ( a good one will have no qualms about 'getting into the community', sadly with work loads they may not see the dog as priority, but use the fact that they do see chatting with locals as useful in networking..so use that to your advantage perhaps)
Good luck, it may feel thankless at the moment but perseverence will pay off!
