Hi all, I am currently researching breeds for my second dog...(we currently have a 2 yr old GR bitch) and after realising that a smaller breed this time round would suit us better (we have a small(ish) house and car...not sure two great lumps of retriever would be best thing for us) so I am looking for a companion for Rosie as well as a good family dog. I have been looking at dogs in the Bichon family but my concern is that they are just too small to combine with a GR (even though she is very mellow and gentle) I think I would spend alot of time on edge, worrying about a them playing and a possible misplaced giant GR paw. So I think I need the 'next size up' type of dog...I have been looking at Tibetan terriers, does anybody own them and could you tell me about them, I adore their look, I LOVE a full coat on a dog, and would enjoy the grooming side of things (would give poor Rosie a break...I tend to brush her more than necessary!) I was just reading about them and realised they aren't actually terriers (I originally discounted them as I have never been particularly drawn to the terrier personality) How come they were given the 'terrier' name??
Rosie is very much my husbands dog, so I also live in hope that our next dog might attach itself to me, I heard they are very loyal and devoted to their owner. Any info on them would be great...any other breeds you think may suit us would also be helpful. We have two grown-up, kind of moved out kids at uni. I work 4 mornings a week (for 4 hrs) but only 2 minutes away, in my village so pop home after 2 hours (but hubs aways does a good early morning walk, so Rosie just sleeps)
So any info about TT's would be greatly appreciated, and if you think they would suit our family.
Many thanks,
Shannon.
