Topic Dog Boards / General / Walking in the rain!
- By Missie Date 26.03.06 22:32 UTC
Well, its been constantly drizzling here for the last two days. Last night I took Maddie for  a walk and, although it was raining only lightly, I wondered why my leg felt considerably wet. When I got home I looked down and all up the one side of me from my foot to my head, was splashed in mud  and completely soaked. Those flippin' webbed feet of hers' had just kicked all the rain/mud back at me all down my left side  The kids thought it was funny, but i didn't - at the time :P

At least your dogs will go out in the rain! I'm thinking of sending Lola back and asking for a refund as she's obviously defective. I mean, who ever heard of a Newfoundland that didn't like to get wet   No problem with diving into the river, going tearing into the sea or wallowing in a muddy puddle but the first sign of a bit of rain and she refuses to set foot outside the door
- By MelissaD [gb] Date 27.03.06 06:57 UTC
My Staffy is the same, he will dive in puddles, goes like a crazed dog when out walking/running in the rain, but when it is time for him to go outside at night for a toilet you have to push his bum and ease him out the back door
- By lumphy [gb] Date 27.03.06 08:42 UTC
Hi

Funny isnt it how they stand at the back door wanting out. Running back and forwards because they are so deperate. You open the door they look out and see the rain and decide dont really need after all and wander of back in the house

Ahh now both of mine will go out in the rain no trouble at all.  What i'm trying to fathom is how Toby will come back completely clean not a speck of mud on him where as JJ comes back looking as if he's the monster from the blacl lagoon. :-)

Yuk squished toad  maybe I will invest in some wellies :P
Its chucking it down now, and what do mine want to do? Play in it! And why do they want to drink from the puddles when there's fresh water in the bowls? The only dog I've ever had that poked her nose out of the door to see what the weathers' like, then come back in and cross her legs cos it was raining, is Missie :D
Only problem with this weather is the slugs are out - double yuk!
- By HuskyGal Date 27.03.06 10:12 UTC
Mmm..slugs...*ick!*
(Go on get the Rubber waders on!...you know you want to ;) )
- By Missie Date 27.03.06 10:18 UTC
mmm... rubber waders, wax jacket, sowester?  Do Matalan stock these?
- By megan57collies Date 27.03.06 10:45 UTC
Makes me laugh. My eldest has a fit if I try to put her in the garden for wees when its raining. But rattle that lead and she's well up for a wet run across the fields. Who's testing who?
- By Missie Date 27.03.06 10:50 UTC
Thats exactly the same as Missie, wont go in the garden in the rain but will go out on her lead

must be the bc part ;)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 27.03.06 14:02 UTC
Nope the Elkhounds are the same, will cross their legs all day not wanting to go outside for a wee in the rain, but shwo them the leads and that is a different matter.

Sitting here with wet hair, damp Jeans and three damp steaming towelled off Girls.
- By Missie Date 27.03.06 14:08 UTC

Had a look at that page Barbara, (with one eye ;) ) looked at most actually and loved the puppy pics :)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 27.03.06 23:34 UTC
I love their coats after rain though.  Funny how a bath will never have them feeling so nice, but once they dry after a good soaking in the rain they feel so luvverly. :D  Wet Nordic dog smell isn't as bad as most wet dogs either, well it don't bother me none
- By rachelsetters Date 27.03.06 10:53 UTC
:-D Same here - 4 who won't go on the mudbath that used to be lawn and 1 white dog who comes back blacker than the gordons!!

Last night trotted up and down (me that is) trying to encourage the 7 month that he really did want to wee on the 'lawn' - couldn't get him to relieve himself at all.  Tucked them all up for bed - turned my back and the monster peed on the floor!!!  :(  But if we are going for a run - he's quite happy to come along!

Rumour has it this weather is here for the whole week - get those wellies and raincoats out!
- By Missie Date 27.03.06 11:02 UTC
:D :D
Its when you have to run out in the pouring rain at night in your pyjamas to fetch the one you forced out who is now sheltering under the tree and refusing to budge!!
- By rachelsetters Date 27.03.06 11:11 UTC
:-D :-D :-D
- By HuskyGal Date 27.03.06 11:12 UTC

- By Beckyess [gb] Date 27.03.06 15:31 UTC
I took mine out along the beach this morning, when I looked down at my 3 they all had sand blasted faces poor things. I took them off the beach through the dunes!! Wish I'd had my camera on me!!
