just wondering what sort of collars do you use on your sbt....also do you use an harness of any sort if so which one and can they be used if the dog pulls a bit particularly when excited...have been told that if a sbt pulls then a harness makes it worse
Have a collar on my 11month old rescued sbt who has had little training obviously cant let him off the lead till he knows us and we know him so am using long line to give him some freedom (using lunge rein!!) but the line ends up underneath him and through back legs and it being webbing although soft has rub him a little....so wondered if a harness would be better as this would keep the line on top of back whereas attached to collar the collar moves round and catch and line end up underneath...

i have a four year old male sbt, He is one hell of a puller,i've tried harnesses but found that this made him worse! The best thing that i have found & works is a halti, this gives him no opportunity to pull!

this is the harness i have for my staffie.  Its a fleecy type of harness, and the front bit goes over the shoulders instead of round the throat.  the lead also attatches further down the harness. Find it a much more comfy harness for her to wear.  Although with anything you will need to train your dog not to pull, but when using long lines i feel harnesses are safer than attatching to a collar which can cause damage if suddenly stopped at high speed!

I use a harness on Troy, I puchased it from A & E Collars.  Troy does not pull and I found this type of harness better for him, it is one that goes up round the shoulders and it leather with padding underneath so does not rub his tum.

I use a dogmatic headcollar on my boy most of the time.  He pulls quite a bit when he's out with the rest of the pack so it makes life easier!  I only use a harness for weight-pull.

Sarah.
