I missed the deadline for entering Buffy and I was really really annoyed with myself because not only would it have been our first real show i was looking forward to putting faces to all the Mal owners, and letting Buffy meet other Mals as she has only ever seen one once when she was a very intimidated puppy. I used to show my mums Tibetan Spaniels (before kids arrived) and am I right in thinking that I cannot bring Buffy because she is not entered? I'm almost positive this is the case unless things have changed. Could anyone tell me if this still stands and or if there is a way around it. The show is quite literally on my doorstep, and i would love for Buffy to meet her own kind.

It depends on how far you are willing to travel,The next Champ show up north is Darlington, but entrys have closed for that one too.:(

as i am preety new to the show world and ask my breeder loads of questions on show matters i am sure that you will be unable to take your dog to the show if you have not entered,as passes are issued at ch shows and must be submitted on leaving the show, could be some what embaressing if you have no pass and could be a matter for the k.c to deal with.

You can't take an unentered dog into a show, but most shows have a tent for unentered dogs, not sure if Bournemouth does. You can enter at the gate and pay the fee then. Ja:)kie

i thought that if you had not entered your dog you could not take it to a show, other than putting on entry form not for competion and using the not for competion tent area. i am a little confused, i went to bath ch show on the sunday to see a breeder,left my dog at home but she was entered on the monday, so could i have brought her on the sunday paid for her to go in the tented area while i looked around the show ???? tina

I think you may be confusing the unentered tent with the not for competition entry. If you have entered your dog Not for Competition the dog can go anywhere within the showground, will be included in the catalogue and will be benched with your other dogs. This entry has to be made before the closing date for entries and on the correct entry form.

The unentered tent is a tent outside the showground (in the car park) usually manned by a charity and will take any dogs who have not been entered in the show. No fixed cost, a donation to the charity is expected and a minimum donation is often suggested.

Yes, you could have taken your dog on the Sunday and left her in the tent in the carpark.

Jackie, there was some talk a few months ago about the KC banning puppies under 6 months at any events, including the car parks of shows, the caravan park and at obedience/agility shows where it has always been common for exhibitors to take their puppies for socialisation. There was a huge outcry particularly from caravanners and from the obedience/agility people as there seems nothing wrong in taking your puppy caravanning or to walk round an obedience show. I never did hear if the KC backed down on this.

Don't know Joan, I do know people who have left pups under 6 months but not this year. KC will be telling us what to have for breakfast soon. Ja:)kie

We left Holly in the unentered tent at WELKS but were told that she couldn't go into the show ground.

Holly was born at the beginning of December so she was about 5mths, I think, at WELKS. The lady in the tent asked how old Holly was and didn't have a problem with us leaving her in there.
