Has anyone tried this food? Its only available to buy at the vets, but isn't a prescription diet. Is like the normal royal canin you can buy at pet shops except with added extras such as glucosamine and chondroiting etc. We've just started stocking it at work, instead of hills science plan, and i'm interested to see if anyone has had any experiences of it. THe theory sounds impressive, however, i would like to reserve judgement until i see what other dog owners think. I've got a free bag of osteo and digest to try.

If you are getting it at staff discount go for it :) but I would think there are cheaper ways of supplimenting these things if it was thought necessary.

Hi i have my Cavalier puppy on Royal Canin Vet Early Care Canine Digest & Skin Puppy PDS 29 and she loves it she is 6 months old who is a rescue she was on butchers when i got her and was making her sick since she has been on Royal Canin she has perked up alot is happier healither her stomach has settled down heaps and her coat and skin is lovely her fur is so shiny where as before it was dull and she had dry itchy flaky skin.

I would deffinately reccomend Royal Canin Vet Early Care especially the Canine Digest & Skin Puppy PDS 29

Glucosamine and chondroitin are well known supplemets for joint problems. The company that I worked for supplied these as tablets to some vets who would give them to larger animals, horses etc. there is some good research to show a positive effect from taking these supplements, however, as with any alternative medication, you can't expect to see any results on a short term basis, so the only thing you can probably assess from your sample is how tasty it is for the animals!

Glucosamine and chondroitin are rather expensive supplements. Like most pet foods that contain these types of supps,i doubt there would be enough to make a noticeable difference,especially not for the dog who already has bone/joint problems,you would still need to supplement with the above seperately.I would say if you only want the food due to the Gluc/Chon,save your money and buy them seperately.However if the ingredients are decent this would be reason enough to feed it,but i wouldnt be relying on the supps to make a major diff.

They sell it cheaper than most places and does my old girl a world of good :)
And yes, the amount they would put in the food is not worth bothering about :(
