Topic Dog Boards / General / Can non-KC reg...................
- By waffy [gb] Date 24.03.06 19:53 UTC
...dogs have all the necessary health tests for their breed?
I am only asking because today I was on another forum and read that they can't. Surely this can't be true? I thought these tests were available to any dog?
Any info would be great.I am now very curious. :)

Of course the tests are available - you will have to pay, of course.  But hipselbows  of non-KC registered dogs will not be scored by the KC panel vets.

yes they can-IF you reg them on the activites reg, they can be scored by the KC/BVA as any ped dog can.
it costs 12 quid to register on there. & you have to choose their KC names!
you can download a form (i think) from the website,or phone them & they will send you one

I stand corrected:  forgot about the activities register - but they do have to be KC registered on said register!

I'm about to ask a really stupid question so please bear with me! Only I'm planning to put Nips on the activities register but being a JRT he's not KC registered. How do I decide what his KC name should be? Do I just dream it up? Or are there certain formalities to observe?
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 24.03.06 20:23 UTC
Michelled should be able to tell you!

Any dog can be hip scored or eye tested & they do not have to be registered with the KC. They are recorded as not registered by the BVA

As to naming your dog you can just think up a name of 24 or less letters

You can download the form here

I had to use my ISDS registered name as part of Rjj's KC name but the rest could be almost anything I wanted & then I added my affix

Cheers, Moonmaiden. Second daft question coming up though...

Because although I know the name of his dam and sire and can supply details of his dam's great dam and great sire, I can't go that far back with his sire. Will this put the kybosh on things?
- By Moonmaiden Date 24.03.06 20:55 UTC
Not if you are applying for the Activities register you don't need any details of his pedigree at all & if yoiu don't know-as I didn't with my X breed rescue I just put not known for everything except the sex ;) I had no idea of her age either !
- By michelled [gb] Date 24.03.06 20:56 UTC
no not at all.
for eg, Tara has no further details at all,on her cert under Dam & sire it says FDU (further details unknown)

nellie.her mum was reg her dad wasnt, so its says, Sire Tag (unreg)  Dam Caristan tina

Flynn. has a full ped so his just looks like a proper one,

there are rules, same as normal KC names. cant remeber offhand havent had to think one up for 3 years. but it DOES state the rules on the form.but as i said the rules are the same for pedigree KC names.(off top of head,at least two words,no place names, under 21 letters(?))
if you have a affix you can use it in the usual way etc.

flynns name is (for eg) Jaffson Black Magic

also youll need to think up 4 as they usally object too some

LOLOL I got my first choice for Rjj ie Brett(his ISDS name) Rjj then I added my affix on the end ;) But I did give them 4 choices all very similar :D
- By michelled [gb] Date 24.03.06 21:02 UTC
tara got her 2nd choice which was Alatar razamataz.
but i REALLY liked my first choice so when i did nellie i put taras first choice as nellies 2 choice. (to try to trick them) & she got her first choice.so shes clanistan Hullabaloo.

Flynn got his 2nd choice. Jaffson black magic. which i actually prefer to his first choice(flynton flyer) So im glad.

MM who is going to have picked "brett Rjj" ?
- By Moonmaiden Date 26.03.06 10:04 UTC
LOLOL It's not the actual name it's whether there's an affix similar to any part of it & I usualy spell thing phoenetically which helps as well

I knew I would get the first choice which I think is cool

I got away with naming one of my Beardie puppies Rayre Rhumba Bum 'cos she never stopped wagging her bum !!!! Hee Hee we didn't keep her tho' her new owners were dancers & thought the name was brilliant !
