Can anybody recommend any tough toys for a 5 year old staffi, we've got the black kong which he loves to play with but were getting a bit fed up of that now. He's demolished all the other so called tough 'indestructable' toys so we'e left with the basic ball, kong and another blue tug like thing that's he's never interested in!

Thanks

My staffy loves playing with household items like plastic bottles (empty and without lids) coz they are really noisy and she can tank around the house with them.  Mine isn't that keen on kongs and she has demolished most of the ones I gave her until I put a rope through the hole rather than filling it with food and now she swings it around her head and has tuggy games with it.  Most of the shop bought toys only last a few minutes with her as she demolishes them instead of playing like all the other dogs.

Hi Nicki, what do you stuff your kong with?

I change my filling for my staffies every time so they never get bored with theirs.

As for other toys mine just love proper casey footballs and tyres of my kids old bikes. They play tug of war and pull eachother around with them. They also love empty bottles and plastic frisbees, which they chew around the edge so they turn into ninja stars

Sorry I cant be of more help but someone should be along soon :)

Hi nikki
i have a four year old staffie male, he has destroyed all the toys i have ever bought him. Try a nylabone, there very strong & seem to last forever! You can get them from pets @ home or any good pet shop.

ha ha it's not just mine then that demolishes everything. Instead of calling him Pepper we should have named him Conan the Destroyer! Honestly, he rips up anything that he can get his teeth into when he's in the mood. He's got a tuggy and has always got a raw hide chew on the go. Some people say they are no good but they have been a life saver for our home!

we recently acquired an 11 month old staffi... he has got a toy made by the same as the nylone bones but is available in 3 sizes cant remember what it is called but it bone shaped but has a mint flavoured middle piece green in colour  ...buddy loves it and is made for chewers....its great ....
Had a old bouncer thingy that the kids used to sit on...great fun but only lasted a day under close supervision..numerous punctures!!!
Think an old leather football would be a great play toy with supervision...

I got a hard, slippery, plastic ball - I think at PAH. It sends Milo nuts, he loves it. It's about 15 cm diameter so too big to put in his mouth. He just pounces on it, chases it and we play footy in the garden. Is your staffie's ball too big for him to actually 'catch'.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all your replies.

Lori - He's got 3 balls, two of which are big enough for him to catch but the problem is he won't give them back once you've thrown them for him so he just wants you to chase him until you can get hold of him, great fun for him but not for the one that's running after him for an hour!

One of the balls has got another ball inside the outer shell that makes a jingle noise and he does play with this quite a bit bu also gets very annoyed that he can't get the smaller ball out.

As for his kong, well we've tried quite a few recipes - liver cake, iced chicken gravy, banana and yoghurt all of which he loves. I do vary them quite a bit.

I think I might go to Pets at Home and ook for the Nyla Bone.

Thanks

we give ours rope ball's from  pets at home. also anything they want to destroy. you just have to clean up the mess after. they seem to like any rope toy + the nylon bones. tennis balls last about 10 mins then they are bald. all the best steve.

Well, just to update you. We bought Rambo a Nylabone and so far he has managed to break a photoframe and two of my fingers!

When we gave it him he decided to do a little dance jumping around it and started to toss it into the air (he does this with a denta stick), unfortunately for me my fingers were in the way when he threw it onto the settee so I've now got two black and blue fingers strapped together.

Never mind he's having fun with it.
