HI

I know that some people on here got the DNA testing kits.  Did anybody send theirs back and what was involved in the report that they send back if you've had it back yet?

Just interested as I just sent mine off for 3 of my SWD's and I just wondered what was involved.

It was a pack that came from I think it was Waltham's????  Really easy to do and it was requested that you did 3 unrelated dogs!  Couldn't quite do that with the Spanish so I did Lana, Lastar and Lydia as they were the three furthest away from each other, not because their names all began with a L :d :d

I did it myself and they all just sat there and let me rub away at their cheeks, they didn't bother at all, actually Lastar still had his scragger in his mouth whilst I did it :d

I did one from Petback Protect mid January but not had anything back yet   Our little Sheltie girl absolutely hated having it done so I'm not holding my breath that it was successful.  If it wasn't they'll send a free kit out and I just have to repeat the process.  But she hates her mouth being opened by people but then again so did our other 2 Shelties - even though we make a point of doing it reguarly

I did one with petback months and months ago, and they have only just got back to me to say that the DNA profile was unsuccessful as the sample did not contain enough DNA, so now, months and months in thinking she was covered (and having paid £100 for the test) they have only just got back to ask that I provide a second sample (thankfully they are not charging me again). I would say to call them and check the DNA sample was successful.

They did tell me that it may take a few months for the result to be processed but its been 3 now so I'll give them a bell - thanks :)

Edit to say - I got a free Petback Pack with a years free registration from PAH with a coupon from their magazine.  When I phoned up to register they said that if I took out lifetime cover it would only be a one off payment  of £99   The DNA test cost an extra £9.99 but I won't be charged if it needs repeating :)

Edited again to say - I also got a coupon from Petlog (?) for lifetime cover with them for £10 so am gonna get that too.  Their services aren't as comprehensive as Petback though so I'm glad I'm with them aswell - read a heatwarming story posted on here regarding Petback reuniting a pet with its owner :)
