My bitch is due to whelp i the next two weeks and I wondered whether poeple advised using calcium suppliments after birth.
I have bought some Calciboost from canince Chemist but there are no instructions as to when to administer just dosage. Any help greatly appreciated. :)

I've never used any suppliments.  Just good quality food throughout.  Not had any problems.  I've often wondered, when I read of all the problems that others have, if my girls just utilise/absorb what I give them well?

I have used Eesy-Whelp from petcetera, 10 days before and 10 days post whelping.

I never give anything before but give Colical D after once a day. My breed is one that is , I believe a little prone to Eclampsia.

i give my bitches for extra calcium goats milk fresh from the supermarket with a good puppy food like beta and they love it.

i have heard that giving calcium stops the bitch producing her own in high enough quantities. however, i have also heard that giving it orally is useless as it has to be intravenously. i wouldnt give any and just watch the bitch. if she gets eclampsia it would be a vet job and IV calcium anyway.
