Our 9 month old GSP is such a sweetie and quite happy at a show but when we get her in the ring, she will not put her tail up and looks quite nervous. She is ok standing and letting judge go over her but a bit nervous when it comes to moving round. She has won a few BP and we have found on a couple of occasions when we have won BOB with the older dog, she is much happier runniing round when there is another dog she knows. Any ideas. Basically she is a happy puppy and quite friendly with anyone.
Thanks
Sorry I can't help! I have the opposite, my dog strides into any room, tail up, all excited but she doesn't like people going over her, so I've not shown her yet, which is a shame as she's gorgeous !!

Is she perhaps upset by the acoustics in the venues when being run around? Or perhaps she doesn't like the surface area?
It may be that if she gets the benefit of the outdoor shows in the spring and summer months that this will help her relax as it's a much more natural environment for dogs to be on grass :)
At 9 months she probably has a lot of hormones flying about inside too - this can make them edgy but passes in time. Try not to get wound up about it as she'll sense your nerves too.
HTH, regards Teri

i have a PBGV pup that i show and wont let me hold his head and wont hold his tail but at every show i walk him around and play with toys at make it all fun

Try getting there early and take her into the ring with either your other dog or her favorite toy or something and just play with her, gallop up and down the ring, throw her toy around and chase, just habe a great game in a ring with the show lead on - and then if she bounces a bit in her class dont check her at all, let her do it. just make it fun - worked with my dog.
