my tara is now 9,& has always been really noise sensitive. however shes now getting worse (last 6 months) to a stage where she can hardly go outside without freaking out, shes changed from a happy dog to one that cant even cope with a bird flapping its wings or a twig snapping.

its been suggested that shes losing her hearing abit,so the noises are sounding differently to her,& when she goes aboit more deaf she will settle down?
any experinces with dogs reacting like this?

I wd. have her checked out by the vet.  Don't want to worry you but I know in people, as a friend had it a number of years ago, some brain tumours can be first identified by people hearing noises a lot louder than they would normally.

My old Cross Breed was very noise sensitive & as she got older she got worse & then went totally deaf & would sit outside watching fireworks when the other dogs were hiding in doors

I would take her to the vets for a check up tho'

I found my breed (very sensitive hearing) get worse as they get older. Totally bombproof at 2, shivering wreck when they hear gunshot at 7. Why, I don't know.

Good Luck Michelle, a check over will put your mind at rest.
((Hugs for you both))

Friend's BC was very noise sensitive and got worse as she got older in her case it wasn't connected to a medical problem but better to get it checked. My old Una got worse too until she went deaf

shes also started do quite odd things, like having to walk in the streams-i THINK its beause the are lower than the path,so maybe she feels "safer" & hidden in them, esp with the steep sides.
but at home shes started hanging out in the bathroom given the choice, then if there are any noises she dosent like shes gets in the bath:eek:

Poor Tara.  Perhaps she is just feeling her age a little bit and protecting herself in her own little way.

shes stressing me out!
went for the short walk this morning, which shes been on a million times & knows & is fine with. got into the woods & a bucket dropped in the yard at the side of the path.off she shots to the left & hides in a quarry:rolleyes:

really couldnt be bothered to get anxious about it so just called her once & walked on.she caught up eventually:rolleyes:
anyway then we did a circuit around the river so she had something to walk in ()
& she stopped half way around, hid underneath this huge evergreen type of tree till i came back around the other side.
