I doubt that you all want a running commentry on my pregnancy problems but I wondered if any of you know why I am sooooo bloated. My stomach has already increased by over eight inches and I'm only ten weeks pregnant (Gone from a size ten to a fourteen and still growning). I know I should post on a pregnancy board not a dog board but you are all so wonderful and helpful (grovel, grovel :D ) that I thought that I'd try you first.

By the way, I have a scan Friday :)

Naomi,

Im 34 weeks now and I felt bloated at the start found tablets for trapped wind helped even so they have that awful chalky taste.

Good luck with your scan and let us no how it goes..

Karen

Have you joined babyworld.co.uk it is a good site..

Naomi,

Stop worrying , Wait till you get your scan and then if any worries ask then.

I can't speak for everyone but I put a bit of weight around my tummy very quickly infact it was the jump froma a 12 -16 that made me realize I was pregnant..i hadn't eatenthat many indian dinners.

I don't know what excuse to use now though. :-)

Thanks all for your help, I don't feel windy  it's more like severe water retention but only on my stomach. Oh Lorna, where are you when I need you :D

Naomi

Everyone is different and every pregancy is different. Some put weight on really quickly in the early days then it eases off - others like me lose weight in the beginning and put it on later.

Changing hormones often mean many women suffer constipation which gives that bloated feeling. Water retention is very common but normally affects the legs and ankles.

The main thing is how you feel. If you don't feel unwell, are not in pain then things are probably fine. Any worries at all and you should talk to your doctor or midwife.

Good luck - I loved being pregnant - it's a very special time for you.

Don't worry too much everyones different and believe I grew bigger than that quicker with my twins, by the time I was 14 wks with my last set I had a 46 inch waist!

My sister is a midwife and laughed at me when I exclaimed about this huge bump - she said the hormones make everything relax and for some woman that makes them feel bloated early on. By 16 wks I was the same size as I was 3 wks before the kids were born. By the time I had them I had only gained 8lbs and came out of hospital in a size 12 jeans ---- oh those were the days lol.

Schip - have you had more than one set of twins !?! sounds like it as you say "with my last set" (just being nosy as always !)

Saraw

I've been pregnant with 6 sets of twins 1 set girls, 4 sets boys and the last 1 of each - unfortunatley I only have 2 living daughters 1 from the first the other from the last. All I ever wished for was to see one of my boys alive something that I achieved with the last set. I did learn that you wish for the world as you might just get it, don't think you don't deserve it.

Naomi don't panic my problems were due to genetics and a blood disorder all the other members of my family have had normal healthy singleton pregnancies and babies.

aww Schip - sorry for questioning you and hope I didn't upset you.
When I read a post like this it reminds me just how little I have been through in my life and in return just how lucky I have been which I don't always appreciate.
Sara :)

Don't worry SaraW I wouldn't have put it up if I was worried about it, I just didn't want to upset Naomi.

I don't think there is anyone in the world who hasn't suffered some tragedy in their lives, we live according to our own experiences. I have 2 wonderful daughters that I've raised alone and am very proud of - even if I have turned grey early lol.

Hey, you haven't upset me. I am glad to have been given the advice :) I have the scan tomorrow and so we will soon know how many are in there ;)
I am not worried about my size, I just wondered if anyone could explain why my stomach has been going up and down to such an extent. It was 38 1/2 inches yesterday and back down to 36 today  It isn't trapped wind, I have no pain but I can feel it going up and down... strange

Hi Naomi, sorry not to be around when you needed me, first my computer was down, and then I've been on holiday. Bloating at any stage of pregnancy is fairly normal. I'm sure by now you've had your scan and hopefully all's well. No particular reason for the bloating in early pregnancy, its usually hormonal. Let me know how you're doing, you must be a bit further along by now?
