Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Irish Title

Ok, I am confused (nope nothing new there then)

Can someone clarify whether or not if a UK champion gains a CICAB in Ireland it automatically get's it's Irish title (as it would if shown on the continent).  I am not talking about a international title, just the Irish title.

I know other countries think our system of classes, tickets etc is confusing but I wouldn't agree having tried to work out FCI and IKC rules to find this out!

TIA

Easy answer, No.

Also the rules for making champions in different countries also vary.

You can't make up a French champion unless they win one of their awards at a particular show for example.

With others you need 3 or more certificates,a dn some there has to be a specific length of time between the first and last qualifying award, as therre is for the FCI International title.

In very few countries will a dog already titled in another country on winning the certificate become a champion in that country, two I can think of are Luxembourg and Poland, most others till require you to win the requisite number of certificates.

In my won breed in Scandinavia no matter how many titles a dog has it cannot get a show title unless it has the requisite number of hunting trial certificates.  I know of such a dog that is a BIS winner, has CACIB's to spare, but no hunting certificates no champion.

Thanks, I wasn't sure, as I can't find the regulations for Ireland anywhere on line and I can't get through to the IKC on the phone.

It is 40 points, and if your breed is low in numbers it takes soem doing.

Our boy won 4 out of the 6 shows on the Munster Circuit last year, and that gave him 20 points, so halfway.

You may find what you need here:

Thanks, I knew it was 40 points on the IKC system but wasn't sure what happened now they'd joined the FCI - and what difference that made to the whole way things were done!

Asking people over there today - even on the IKC stand - opinion was divided as to whether a CICAB now gave you the title!

Looks like we shall have to start saving up for more trips to ireland!
