We are picking up our lovely Goldie puppy in two weeks but are struggling for names for her.  Her kennel name doesn't really lend itself to any pet names as such and just wondered if there were any names that we should definitely be avoiding.  I know that we shouldn't go for a long winded name but more for a two syllabulled name.

Do we have to use part of her kennel name for her pet name?  It would be nice if we could incorporate part of it somehow but I am at a loss ?

you dont have to use her kennel name at all, but if you tell us what it is we might get some ideas.

I wasn't sure if I was allowed to do that on here?

Leave the affix/kennel name off just the actual name bit - clear as mud that hey! ;) .... sure that will be okay?

Congrats on the new puppy...we've got 4.5 geolden puppy and she's brilliant.

We had a similar problem naming her.....I really liked Daisy, but did a search and lots of GR's are called Daisy...and the boyf had an issue with it being a very girly name (er hello - she's a girl!!)

Anyway, her kennel name (Snow princess) didn't lend itself to an obvious name so I had this thought process. Snow. I like the snowboarding clothing Roxylife. Roxy. (complex thought process, no?)

On the way back from meeting her for the first time 'I said what about Roxy?' we all went quiet for a minute and that name led for about 3-4 days. We also chose Noodle but when I went to pick her up 'Roxy' looked at me and I called it her. It just suits her.

Anyway, do a search on google and you'll  get a load of  websites that lists all the different names, but to be honest, a name will pretty much just choose itself as long as you have a shortlist.

You can call your dog whatever you want - it needn't have anything to do with her kennel name. :) Just make sure it's something you don't mind shouting in a public place! :D

I stick with 'puppy puppy', until something in the puppies behaviour suggests a name to me.

She's called Dior Addict Moonshimmer!  Mum is already called Luna.
