Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Crufts coverage - Bring back Richard Hammond!!!!
- By hopevalley [gb] Date 15.03.06 19:14 UTC Edited 15.03.06 19:16 UTC
I want to start a campaign to bring back Richard Hammond to the Crufts coverage!!!!

Ben Fogle needs lessons in how to read an autocue, needs to learn a bit about dogs and stop moving his head around after every word he says!!!

Richard Hammnd at least has an interest in dogs and will own up if he doesn't know what he's talking about.  He's a bit easier on the eye too :) (v cute!!)

So, BRING BACK RICHARD HAMMOND!!!!
- By Missie Date 15.03.06 19:22 UTC
Who's Richard Hammond?
- By Dawn-R Date 15.03.06 19:23 UTC
The teeny weeny one off Top Gear... you know... the Hamster.

oh him, right. Did he used to do crufts then? To be honest I've never taken much notice of the presenters until this one   I remember they sat in a different room to this one, and they all sat together, maybe thats why I didn't notice too much before?
- By ShaynLola Date 15.03.06 19:24 UTC
He's the little cute one from Top Gear ;)
- By LucyD [gb] Date 15.03.06 19:31 UTC
Nah, bring back that woman from last year!
- By Isabel Date 15.03.06 19:31 UTC
Remind me, what was the extent of his interest in dogs? As compared to say growing up with a vet specialising in pet behaviour and attending Crufts since the age of 4?

>He's a bit easier on the eye too

Quite cute in a teeny, weeny, pocket sort of way but not really heroic stuff is he? ;)
- By Carla Date 15.03.06 19:36 UTC
Not when you could have Ben and his manly ability to blow a hole in a tissue  :D
- By Isabel Date 15.03.06 19:43 UTC
Come, come :)  Atlantic, Sahara?  Hammond wouldn't do that without four wheels
- By Carla Date 15.03.06 19:46 UTC
Why would he want to? :D He's a smart ickle package. Shame I'd squish him :D
- By sandrah Date 15.03.06 19:48 UTC
I'd squish him too :D   I agree bring back Richard Hammond and Claire Baldwin, they both did an excellent job last year.  Ben Fogel completely ruined my Crufts viewing this year.
- By ridgielover Date 15.03.06 20:31 UTC
My vote goes to Claire - at least she asked intelligent questions.
Ben Fogel makes a great children's TV presenter, but just didn't work for Crufts at all.
- By newfiedreams Date 15.03.06 20:50 UTC
PLLLLEEEAASSEEE Whoever you bring back, GET RID OF THE B****T FOOL BF for short! LOL :D :D :D
- By ChristineW Date 16.03.06 19:32 UTC
Why do they not get that Blue Peter chappie who at least managed to look like he had some knowledge about dogs?     Richard Hammond is best kept to Top Gear, Ben Fogle is best put back to Africa and he can take his over-opinionated father with him.
- By hopevalley [gb] Date 16.03.06 08:47 UTC
I couldn't think of the womans, name!!  Claire, that's it!!  She was good too.

Bring back Richard AND Claire!!
- By HipandHop [gb] Date 16.03.06 10:30 UTC
I liked Claire Baldwin, she was very entertaining :-)
- By michelled [gb] Date 16.03.06 10:33 UTC
i agree we need ricky & clare! get rid of barbies ken!
- By HipandHop [gb] Date 16.03.06 11:21 UTC
Totally agree
- By judgedredd [gb] Date 16.03.06 12:52 UTC
why can't we have someone who knows about dogs also someone that has done agility and obedience and flyball etc,
at the moment the commenwealth games are on and all the presenters on that so far have been involved with athletics etc for a long time they have at least a little bit of knowledge of the sport
why not everyone put some one forward to the bbc and the kc that we would think would be good at it, or run a poll in one of the dog papers to see who we all would agree would be better at presenting the programme .

glad you didn't say Richard and Judy - now there's a thought!
- By Carla Date 16.03.06 15:31 UTC
Talking of Richard and Judy - doesn't anyone else find it strange that whilst Richard doesn't age AT ALL, Judy is starting to look like the Crypt Keeper? :D
- By sarahl [gb] Date 16.03.06 15:33 UTC
ooohhh, that's cruel but maybe a little bit of truth in it !!  lol
- By Carla Date 16.03.06 15:34 UTC
I'm just not sure whether Richard looks young for his age or Judy looks old LOL
- By Isabel Date 16.03.06 15:51 UTC
Well I'm not one to gossip ;).......................but I believe she is about 9 years older than him :D
- By Carla Date 16.03.06 15:56 UTC
I am 7 years older than my husband

*makes mental note to buy some of that anti-ageing cream stuff*
- By Isabel Date 16.03.06 16:02 UTC
*makes mental note to gossip about ChloeH and husband*
- By LJS Date 16.03.06 17:07 UTC
Nought wrong in being married to a toyboy ;) You are as young as you feel  :D

(3rs older than my OH )

Yes I agree with the comment about Judy. She does need a bit of surgical help
- By Daisy [gb] Date 18.03.06 12:34 UTC
Nothing wrong with being a toygirl either :D :D

The Picture of Dorian Grey!!!!
- By helenRR [gb] Date 16.03.06 16:50 UTC
Sorry who is Clare Baldwin??

the one who presented last years crufts is Clare BaldING

(couldn't resist i'm afraid!!)
Richard hammond is quite cute. And hes got horses too so that gets my vote (at risk of inflaming Isabel's fury of course);-)

I still think Ben and Clare would be good together (in a professional sense obviously. Don't think Clare is that way inclined ;-))
- By HipandHop [gb] Date 16.03.06 17:25 UTC
Thank You for your correction well appreciated :-)
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 16.03.06 19:22 UTC
I'll be the presenter next year if you wish :d If only.  Not with BF though!
- By Setters4me [gb] Date 16.03.06 20:49 UTC
BF was cringeworthy. If he had said "arrrrh" one more time I would have swithched off. He ruined the coverage for me too. Clarie Baldwin was very professional and took the whole thing seriously AND could read an autocue!!
- By Moonmaiden Date 16.03.06 22:18 UTC
ROFLMAO

Clare is brilliant & very professional & does a lot of research into anything she presents that she doesn't already have a good knowleage of

This is interesting ;)

Don't think Clare is that way inclined

I've only been aware of RH on Top Gear and feel obliged to say he irritated me.I thought him to be a sniveling sycophant. Then on a day time programme with Mel somone..still didn't like him. Clare I have only ever seen being professional.
- By helenRR [gb] Date 17.03.06 14:10 UTC
Thanks Moonmaiden that has cleared up the speculation for me.

last year at the bloodstock sales in Newmarket there was a rumour but no one would actually commit themselves to anything.

Trust CD to come up with the answer where the racing grapevine was uncooperative! (though i doesnt make any difference obviously. but i like to be in the know about, well, everything really!);-)
- By Moonmaiden Date 17.03.06 14:13 UTC
LOLOL She is a brilliant commentator must be in her genes ;)
- By helenRR [gb] Date 17.03.06 14:20 UTC
in her father,Ian's, autobiography he says that he always watched any sport at home and that Claire and Andrew would watch as well. he puts this down as the reason Clare can talk about any sport, she had to!

He also used to play rugby and cricket to quite a high level so that must help.
- By Harlistream Date 18.03.06 08:09 UTC
I have to say that I thought Clare was a very good presenter (well I suppose she does a lot of it). I really enjoyed watching her last year. I cant really say the same about Richard though. Im not a huge fan of him, I think he should just stick to Top Gear (which he is very good at). Ben Fogle was hilarious, the blunders he made were great entertainment. However I wouldnt want to see him back doing it next year though!
I say bring back Clare Balding !!!!!!!
(Sorry Hopevalley !! :D )
