So this means that if I want to import a dog of my breed, which is rare from it's country of origin I won't be able to show it? How stupid is that! It could actually lessen the gene pool as why import a dog if you can't show its worth?
This world is going PC MENTAL and I'd hate to see what my children will have to put up with in the future (not that I have any yet :d)! I wouldn't mind but there are more important issues in the World that should be dealt with before this!
Shame that the politicians find tail docking more important than getting our men out of a country which doesn't really seem to want our help!

I guess it'll be like the current rule about dogs with cropped ears - they can be imported and used for breeding purposes, so adding to the gene pool; just banned from the show ring.

So do we know if the cut-off date (sorry folks ;) ) will be the date that this law is passed through the final stages? Otherwise, I'm just not going re-start showing this year! :(

Yeah, but it would be harder to prove them as a stud if you can't show it as people won't get to see them.
Whoever thought of this needs their brains read. Shame that the politicians aren't dealing with more important matters!

The law still has to go through the House of Lords, the Gvt will then announce a start date - it isnt going to be in the next few weeks, but dont expect it to be too long a time either. Once the ban comes in then thats it for dogs docked anywhere in the world after that date being shown here. I hope that those complaining wrote to their MPs and tried to get them to vote the right way - the vote on exempting working dogs was pretty close.

but the cropping ears scenario is different in that its a KC rule rather than a law of the land.

was against the law of the land in the UK?

It is, and has been for over a century.
It is not too late yet for this Bill to be voted against. The House of Lords will have to vote on it first. Therefore, for the sake of the future welfare of our docked breeds, please write to as many peers as possible, as they have the power to say "NO".
The Council of Docked Breeds website guides you how to write to the peers.
