Hi,

I'm a newbie to this forum and was wondering if there was such a thing as a video or dvd of footage from a dog show to give me an idea of the way people handle their dogs and what it's like in the show ring? (Tuned into the BBC's coverage of gundog day at Crufts which was a total waste of time..!!) I am attending ringcraft classes with my weim puppy and obviously the best way to witness what goes on would be to get to a show, but in the absence of anything local coming up in the near future I figured this would be the next best thing. I guess any general one would be useful but something that featured gundogs or weims in particular would be even better.

Can't you ask the people at your ringcraft to show you?

Basically the key things to remember when showing are to stack the dog by putting all 4 feet into place and when moving to match your dogs stride and to keep the dog on a loose lead! :)

where abouts in the country are you? do you know where to look for show dates? its coming up to big show season now so it shouldn't be too hard to find shows anywhere..........cant your breeder help either? i'm sure if you tell us where you are we will probably be able to point you in the right direction

Hi there, thanks v much. Think that's the NEWS champ show - Will try and make it up there for a look-see! I'm based in Cambridgeshire but don't mind travelling the distance - refreshing my memory as to what happens on the day will certainly give me peace of mind for our showing debut! :0)

Hi I probably live quite close to you and I show Weimaraners.  Their are local open shows to you sometimes at Newmarket. But not just yet.  If you want any advice I would happily have a chat with you. Not sure if I will be able to say it all over e-mail.
