Hi
This is an email for any beauty therapists out there.  I am looking to start doing Gel nails but am really confused as to what products to get to train on and what the best gels are if anybody is a dog owner and a beauty therapist and can advise me that would be fab.  I have heard of a few different companies but wonder how they all compare.
Also can anybody tell me in their experience what the best short wave diathermy electrolysis machine is?

I'm not a beauty therapist, but i do get my nails done every few weeks. My beautician uses Magnetic products (for gel nails) and it's the best ever! I'm very satisfied with it.....http://www.meyliang.nl/engelstalig/index.htm
She used something else before but costumers wern't as satisfied. I'd suggest you take one of them courses and i'm sure they'll be able to answer all you questions ;) ....... good luck!!

I'm not a beauty therapist, but I do my own gel nails and use the rio uv nails kit which I think is fab and is supposed to be as good as any other professional products

You do it yourself??? That is such a great idea....... how did you learn to do it? I'd save loads of money if i bought my own products and do it myself.

Well i used to have acrylic ones done at a salon, but it ends up being so expensive and if one breaks it looks a mess until you can get an appointment for a repair, so I started off doing my own acrylic ones, after doing those anythings easy lol
The rio kit you can get from argos or direct from rio themselves and it comes with instruction book and video. When you've had them down at a salon before, you already have an idea what you should be doing anyway, and the more you practice the better you get at it. Plus if one falls off you can just put another one on :)
One thing I will say though, give yourself plenty of time to do them lol

Hi. I am a trained nail tech and I swear by bio sculpture gel products (www.biosculpture.co.uk). The gel is very kind to the nails, very strong, easy to work with and creates fantastic realistic looking nails. I personally prefare working with acrylic and find NSI and EZ flow products are the best on the market. Can't help you with the electrolysis question sorry. Good luck.

Sorry it has taken me till this morning to check my post and I can't thank you all enough for your help.  I will definitely be checking out the different types of gel products and in particular Rio sounds good. 
To therhyse that is a good question well I don't really know why I chose goat as my password, I do like goats, particularly the pygmy ones and one day I think I would like to have a few of them myself that is if I had a farm or something like that.  I guess I just chose it because ummmmm well really there is no particular reason, nothing exiting or anything like that I am afraid.

Creative is another very good comapny - the training costs about £650 though.

Im a beauty therapist , Id reccomend Cal gel nails there nice because they dont ruin your nails like some and its a natural product . they can be pretty hard to get in your salon though . you can have 58 ? semi perminante colours .they may have changed that number now :)
as for the epliation machine its got to be good old Sterex machines Think the sx =b epilator for both diathermy and the blend .

Gel nails or any other acrylic nails, yes they are all acrylic,  don't ruin your natural nail its the inexperienced technician that ruins your nails.
I have many customers who come with the same tale, saying they had nails on but they ruin your nails, I have never ruined anyones nails because I have had proper training and use good quality products.
If you go to a reputable salon your nails will not suffer, if you go to argos, buy a kit and do them yourself with no training or one of these thai salons that use products which are banned in the USA then Yes your nails will be ruined.

The only people who I see with 'ruined' nails are the ones who have decided to remove the nails themselves by picking them off at the first sign of lifting, however nails do become weak and break very easily after artificial nail application due to lack of air.

Have to disagree there I agree that there are alot of techs out there that arent good enough , its about time there were more checks on salons  ive seen way to much over filling /buffing and eek those who use electric files on natural nails some ive seen are really bad  ,But  Having used a wide rang of products in a large salon where there are lots of very well trained therapists  me myself  am trained in all applications and have used alot of products  for many years , 

I have to say that there has been a product or two that resulted in ruined /week nails reported by many therapists I think this problem was because the product used wasent flexible enough as a slight knock or bang or even typing puts the natural nail not the well bonded extention under presure . having a flexible nail creates a more natural effect ie ... the extention having some give in it lowering the blow to the natural nail . which is why I think Gel nails are much nicer then some other types
personly I couldent stand the headaches from using some products which is another reason I prefer gel .Im sure Ill probably change my mind in a few years when theres a better product on the market ;)
