Hi
Can anyone recomend a decent puppy pen
The one I was going to use is no good, for various reasons so looks like I will have to buy a new one. It doesnt have to be big as it is for a terrier litter of 3.
Ideally I would like one with a floor to proctect my floor as it will be in the sitting room. A door would be very handy. And cheap as I am probably only be using it the once.
Thanks in advance

Just as a word of caution. Be careful that puppies dont get teeth caught on the metal. never leave them unattended in a pen or cage. The decent quality Pens in my opinion are a but better. The metal bars are bigger.

I did use a large crate for my sbt puppies when they were about 3 weeks old, i used old cot bumpers and tied them securely all round the sides of the crate at the bottom to stop any little paws getting caught. You can pick them up really cheap from charity shops.
Good Luck

Hi
I didnt think about cot bumpers. I do have a large cage but was concerned about the distance between bars and them getting there heads stuck. Bumpers would help with that problem.
Ideally I would like one without a roof for easier access and cleaning. My big cage has the opening at one end and a real pain to clean the back of it.

What I do is use the panels but put lengths of shiny MDF along the 4 side so I know they are always safe.
I know a few people who have been out the room for 5 mins and came back to distressed puppies dangling from the wire stuck in their teeth. :-(

For my cocker litters I use puppy panels from
Croft two about 6 ft long and two about 3 ft wide, can't tell you the exact measurments because they are in the loft at the mo, but clipped together they exactly fit inside the very biggest replacement cage tray that I could get from Croft's at the time providing a contained and easily washable floor. The end panel can be replace by a cage attached on the end to make a sleeping area. I also have several other panels for adding to them to make up a larger play pen out in the conservatory or garden as they grew.

I've got two Croft Freedom Pens, they are great, you can join as many panels together as you want, then they pack flat for storage! Plus it has a plastic try on the floor, which is great for cleaning. Good sturdy pens.

Mine is the economy version ;)

Probably a lot lighter too!...lol. These are good, but heavy! :)
I use the Croft pens, too expensive but well worth it!! At the start you don't need the gate, then you can just put the barrier up and finally when you know that they'd be able to get out with no gate you can attach it :d
One of my pups got it's jaw stuck on a crate last time, very scary few minutes there I can tell you.
Have a look on Ebay, some good cheaper pens, panels etc there well worth a look. Also fleece, bronteglen mill do a fantastic price for grey fleece, cheaper on ebay than direct from them...yes, cant understand that myself...
totally agree, i got a great play pen from ebay, lightweight canvas and plastic mesh £25, great for camping too. Most of my whelping kit was bought of there.

Watch out for one on ebay he is selling cages, tables and carpets, check his feedback it is horrendouse. I paid for 3 items off him and never got them, as has happened to loads of others.
You may think he is ok as he does the dog shows, but looks like he is in over his head with ebay.

Britney, if you have paid for 3 items and not received them I wouldn't be afraid to give his username whether here or PM.

Hi
Have you reported him to ebay. If you paid by Paypal you can put in a claim and get your money back.
I buy and sell a lot on ebay and luckly have few problems but there is always one that has to spoil it for others.
I did have a look and got a few ideas. still working on it lol
