Well, I llove going to crufts, but for heavens sake, was almost sent flat on me back by some super-tanker person, with the social skills of a goat :mad:
Yes it is busy and crowded, but manners cost nothing Grrrrrrrrrr the bus driver on the courstesy coach from NEC to car parks almost died of shock when I said hello. Hello Dog Folk remember ya manners.........they cost nowt!!!!!!!:mad::mad:

Seriously cheesed off...........and glad I don't show if that wot it takes
- By justlou Date 11.03.06 20:36 UTC
Aww Libs :-( So sorry to hear this

There are some ignorant people out there :-(
- By liberty Date 11.03.06 20:39 UTC
It was just down right ignorance and rudeness, my parents brought me up better than that........... was ashamed to be associated wiv Crufts to be honest.
- By LJS Date 11.03.06 20:43 UTC
It is life generally  I always say sorry if I accidently bump into somebody

Hardly ever get that back as there are some real ignorant rude people out there :rolleyes:
- By justlou Date 11.03.06 20:50 UTC

- By LJS Date 11.03.06 20:58 UTC
You two fancy going in chat ? :)
- By archer [gb] Date 11.03.06 21:31 UTC
I think the problem is just TOOOO many people.Think they should maybe think of extending it for maybe another day or so and also limiting numbers.
Archer
- By sara1bee [gb] Date 11.03.06 22:26 UTC
I agree, i was there today and couldnt get near discover dogs because of at least 20 people around each booth! it took me 20 mins to walk there from ring 1 through the crowds, it really spoilt it for me!
- By Emz77 [gb] Date 13.03.06 13:59 UTC
I know what you mean, this is a little off key, but it made me so mad  my little boy (3 years old) was in Sainsburys with me at the till whilst putting shopping in the trolley. He was watching it come down the belt. Now usually I would put the trolley at the end but this day there were already 2 trolleys (people talking to one another) so no room so had it right behind liam... Now the guy on the till next to us instead of saying excuse me just kept his trolley parrallel with mine and squeezed himself between the 2 completely crushing Liam and his head against the tills  I was so mad I didn't say anything or I would have caused a scene... The poor young boy on the till was really appologetic asking if he was ok.. But what ignorance it really riles me people with no manners

(sorry rant over now )
- By Isabel Date 11.03.06 22:30 UTC
The should move it further north, we are much politer up here :p :D
- By Phoebe [gb] Date 11.03.06 22:36 UTC
I don't know, I live up North and I think the super tanker with the manners of a goat shops in my local supermarket.
- By Fillis Date 12.03.06 00:09 UTC
Yesterday I looked at my girl who had been trodden on twice (by dog people, not the "public") while on her way to the dubious pleasure of a wee on smelly sawdust, watched her (docked) tail wagging madly and decided that she deserves better. That is the last Crufts I will enter. :(
- By Dill [gb] Date 12.03.06 00:44 UTC
Have to say I found the visitors (carrying their rucksacks everywhere  ) far more trouble this year :(  I amost got knocked off my feet trying to take my dog for a wee :( she was knocked about a bit too as people don't seem to watch below their noses for a 15 inch dog   the reactions I got from saying "sorry, am I in your way?" anyone would think the dogs shouldn't have been there!!!!  And the man (pushing) in the wheelchair race!!! don't know what his hurry was, he was heading away from the toilets (only thing I could think would cause anyone to go that fast  )
- By Ella [gb] Date 12.03.06 00:37 UTC
I cant stand rude people. It really bothers me, how much effort does it really take to utter a few sylables to say 'excuse me' or 'sorry'

I moved to Scotland from Australia last year and the attitude of people shocks me. I have had people barge me out of the way in Tesco when there was plenty of room for them to walk around. Its terrible.

I saw an elderly lady slip in a puddle last monday and helped her up. She was shocked that someone would help her. Even more so that a young, tattooed girl would do it. She even offered to buy me a coffee she was so pleased.

Attitudes shock me really, sometimes I despare for humanity :(
- By Dill [gb] Date 12.03.06 00:48 UTC
MY daughter is 22 and is always amused at the number of people who go into shock simply because she's been her usual polite self, yes she has piercings but she's not scary looking or anything ;)   Manners cost nothing
- By Ella [gb] Date 12.03.06 04:00 UTC
I aggree.
- By Wendy T [in] Date 12.03.06 08:05 UTC
hahahha OH took my Mastiff,Blake,(who by the way won third)chuffed mummy, and I think Blake may have manners of goat, anyone that wants to walk through Crufts should come and borrow him,he kind of pushes into people with his shoulders, looks round at OH as if hes grinning when they move,if they don't move he puts his great big nose between their legs and snorts, but all my friends just follow Steve and Blake through the halls, and they all ended up apologising to OH,
Wendy

I have been on crutches for the last few weeks with a very sore knee, so the least amount of walking the better, well the amount of people that walked as if they were going to walk straight through me and expect me to move out of their way :( :( and I nearly lost one of my crutches several times from people catching them with baskets, trollies, feet :( :( Now i am not a small weak women, I am 5'11" and atheletic with a cringe on my face because every step hurt :(
Certainly opened my eyes :( :(
Lea :)

I don't think that it is anything new tho' :( I remember 23 years ago commuting to London in a hot summer, heavily pregnant and no-one offering me a seat :(

On our way to the exit on Thursday with my freinds and their dog I actually heard a man say "B.....Y dogs theyr,e all over the place " and he wasn,t joking either I think we were getting in the way of his wife who was shopping  never mind  that I was struggling with a german shepherd ,three bags , a fold up chair and two eighty year olds:mad:
Its a very good job for him that I was temporarily rendered speechles:mad:
- By CherylS Date 12.03.06 11:57 UTC
I used to have to take my 2 then 3 children to London every 6 to8 weeks for appnts at Moorfields Eye Hospital.  It certainly opened my eyes.  When I started going my daughters were 5 and 3 and the worst part for me was not so much people not giving up seats but the fear of getting the children up and down escalators and on and off tubes because people would not help even by giving me a little time or space.  How one of my children didn't get knocked down the escalators or pushed off a tube by people barging and pushing I just dont know.  Then I did the trips pregnant and then with an 18 mnth baby when he started having appnts which meant I also had to take a buggy.  The girls were still only 7 & 5 at this point.  It's not so much rudeness but just plain selfishness, just no consideration for anyone else or even trying to see peoples difficulties from their perspective.

Oh dear, sorry, that turned into a rant didn't it.  Daisy, you you lit the blue touchpaper :D
- By Isabel Date 12.03.06 12:10 UTC

Sorry, to side track, but that just tickled me :D

What annoys me is older people pushing my sons out of the way, when I have spent their young lives trying to promote manners! I was standing at sainsburys deli the other day, son by my side, when an old chap walked up, wanted to see what my son was standing in front of so simply shoved him out of the way! My son didn't say anything, but i did! This is not the first time something like this has happened, and it does annoy me.
- By CherylS Date 12.03.06 11:59 UTC
Yes, I used to speak up for my children getting pushed in front of when standing in queues as well.  We can't criticise young people when so many adults are setting bad examples
- By Jetstone Jewel [ca] Date 12.03.06 14:52 UTC
I'm afraid my Mum is getting to be one of those rude elderly people.  I cringe every time I take her grocery shopping, she's so impatient with other people.  She huffs and puffs when someone is standing in front of the bin she wants at, pushes away carts belonging to other people and gives out the dirtiest looks.  I haven't yet seen her ram her cart into someone's ankles but I'm afraid she will.  She complains out loud too, when I'm with her, and because she's hard of hearing herself does not realize that others can hear her.  I'm afraid someone will turn around and retaliate because she sure doesn't look her age, 88.

Well walking back to the car today with Alfie in one hand and dragging my bag on wheels (decided against the "trolly ;) ) I glanced behind just intime to see two people coming hammer and tongs up the slope dragging/pushing (one pushing one dragging) a cage full of spaniels, they went into the back of Alf and he jumped out of the way, I had a pop at them about it and my good old dad walking just ahead had a pop too, it seemed the guy thought I should have been aware that they were behind me, I dont think I heard an "excuse me" or even a "SPANIEL CARRIER COMING THROUGH !! "  anything to warn me so I could move my poor boy out of the way.  But what really bugs me, they were obviously tanking it so they could get up the hill because the cage was heavy, why couldnt the dogs have walked ? the poor things had been at a show all day, I can understand pushing them into the show so they dont get dirty (nothing a bit of show off doesnt fix though  ) but after the poor little mites have been caged all day on a bench they then get wheeled back to the car to sit in the car for god knows how long to get home :( doesnt seem fair to me, we saw loads being wheeled out - why they are gundogs after all

as people don't seem to watch below their noses for a 15 inch dog

To be honest, it was so crowded in there you couldn't see your feet or anything around them for the sheer number of people.  I felt like I had people practically standing on my chest and felt awfully claustrophobic.  :-(  We had to leave after 2 hours as I started to feel quite panicky after trying to go through the Discover Dogs section.
- By therhyse Date 13.03.06 12:39 UTC
super-tanker person, with the social skills of a goat..............

sorry to hear of your bad experience. can I please point out that goats do have manners and social skills! I keep, love  and breed them, at present 12, including the tiniest baby born on friday. they are loveable and adorable & nothing like your tank like creature you describe. so perhaps you should rephrase to social skills of a rhino... unless there are some rhino lovers out there???
- By liberty Date 13.03.06 14:51 UTC

Apologies to all goat owners ;) Perhaps a Rhino would have been more appropriate :D :D

Aww Libs,
Sorry to hear that (will try not to rub it in as I know you had to miss Thurs) But reading this thread made me soo relieved The Siberians show on the Thursday, My favourite day by far it did seem busier than I remember but still comfortable and plenty of space around the rings etc.. I really dont think I couldve coped with the Sat/Sunday crowds.
Charanda, next year we will paint red spots all over you so you can get out of work and you can come on Thursday, big difference much more enjoyable not so nearly so crammed and more to the point you get to see your beloved Boxers in the ring! :D
- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 13.03.06 13:17 UTC
I always let onto everyone and the show people that were on the buses that I was on also did and all were very pleasant.  The most ignorant usually at Crufts are the day trippers who seem to think that you are mental if you have a dog at the show, erm, this is the biggest dog show on earth and we are supposed to take our dogs!

I have to say that yet again the bus drivers did a brilliant job!  They all seemed happy, pleasant and went out of their way to help everyone.  I was very impressed by them again this year!
- By Charanda [de] Date 13.03.06 13:18 UTC
And perhaps we could even get to meet up HG  :D

Seriously though, I didn't like the crowds one little bit.  I don't know if I suffer panic attacks for definite (never really thought about it) but I got to the point in the crowd that I had to get out then and there.  I couldn't breathe and although I was quite emotional (in tears) I also felt a surge of violence in me - I would have fought my way out of there but luckily I started breathing nice and deeply and calmed myself down so as not to cause a fuss.

Oh, and I was very polite.  :D

One other thing I really noticed more this year and before was the smoke - I came back smelling like I'd been in a pub all day rather than at a dog show!!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 13.03.06 13:20 UTC
For an event that's supposed to be smoke-free that's dreadful!
- By Charanda [de] Date 13.03.06 13:22 UTC
Is it really meant to be smoke free JG??  There were people manning the DD section who were puffing away in the faces of kids who were trying to stroke dogs.  Smokers on the benches, smokers outside the restaurants, smokers everywhere - I just assumed that the No Smoking Policy hadn't made it to Crufts yet!!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 13.03.06 13:24 UTC
It's certainly been officially No Smoking since 2000, with signs on all the paper bench 'mats', and numerous PA announcements. I didn't go this year, but I doubt if they relaxed it.
- By HuskyGal Date 13.03.06 13:32 UTC
>For an event that's supposed to be smoke-free that's dreadful!<

could'nt agree more!!!! especially as immediately behind the 'smoking areas' in the main thoroughfare are doors out to the nice little garden area with ornamental pond and lots of benches outside.
I went out there on Thursday despite it pouring with rain (we really need a smiley with a little Halo on it!! ;) )
ooops... erm yes,my 'giving up smoking' still needs some work
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 13.03.06 13:21 UTC
Of course next year all the groups will be on the day following their day this year - Sibes (and Boxers!) will be on the Friday. :)
- By HuskyGal Date 13.03.06 13:33 UTC
* shoots the messenger*
;)
- By Liisa [gb] Date 13.03.06 14:52 UTC
do you know I hate Crufts..... full of incondiserate rude people and yes many of them exhibitors......  how many people have to have their dogs on extendable leads , letting them sniff anf stick their noses up other dogs bums...... tut.....  I have a dog that was attacked as a puppy and now fears other dogs. I lost count of how many dogs came up to her despite me having her on a tight lead and asking people to 'watch her'!!!  On the way out one man let his russian black come straight up to her and sniff her bum, I asked him to watch his dog, he said "oh he is OK"  I then said that mine wasnt and she was lickley to snap.  I mean cant people see when someone else is holding on to their dog for dear life.....  grrrrrrrr
- By Goldmali Date 13.03.06 14:59 UTC
I then said that mine wasnt and she was lickley to snap.  I mean cant people see when someone else is holding on to their dog for dear life.....  grrrrrrrr mad

Agree Liisa, and I too have a dog that does NOT like dogs he doesn't KNOW. But this happens at ALL shows, not just Crufts. People just let their dogs wander anywhere at the end of a lead and don't even watch them, and then if they get snapped at it's MY dog's fault, when HE was the one having his space invaded........
