hi is every 1 looking forward to anougher exciteing evening watching VS handle anougher crazed dog lol
You said it - the dog is crazed because the humans are crazy (or needy). This week I think it's some poor Dachshund (?) being driven to the point of madness by people who no doubt consider themselves dog-lovers.
BTW, I wonder if there'll be any more 'product placement' this week? Or am I just being cynical?
Well, what did everyone think of it this week? I was so irritated by that family, I could easily have slapped the lot of them! :D Getting a bit fed up with Victoria's posing in the leather outfits as well - if she is that good a dog trainer, why does she need the gimmicks?

i could have slapped them all aswell.
first time i watched it (remembered to set the video) i thought VS was the scariest woman i have ever seen.
why on earth did that girl whant a baby at such a young age?
didn't quite get the doorbel method as she was saying that he wanted attention so everytime he barked they would come back to him!!!

i thought the lad teasing the poor dog needed a good kick up the backside! i was only amazed at how quiet the 2 spaniels were, i thought they would all bark together (like in my house) i do think that dacshunds are quite often barkers which you would need to consider before you buy one!
Also, it's OK if the person ringing the bell understands in advance what you're trying to achieve but can you imagine some other poor caller, keep seeing you approaching the door and then walking away again, or worse actually opening the door and then shutting it in their face???? :D
One thing I did agree with her on though was her saying small dogs needed training every bit as much as big dogs. I known so many people with small dogs who think their little puppies being aggressive is funny and 'brave' and don't correct it. Then the dogs grows up to be a real problem :(
It annoyed me to think that the girl had got a dog as a "baby substitute". Fair enough - I think of Glazby and love him as much as I would a baby/child but I also remember that he is a DOG at the end of the day.
Poor little dog being terrorised by that lad who should have known better by his age.

I'm always amazed when I watch this programme that what I see as common sense is like a total revelation to some of these people!!

To be honest, I thought they would have been better off buying the 18 year old another Barbie since she clearly couldn't recognise the difference between a dog and a doll! And while I don't agree with Victoria Stilwell on all sorts of things I was very cheered at her response to seeing the poor pup dressed in that silly yellow raincoat and hat! He seemed like a nice little chap who wasn't actually much of a problem once he'd had some basic training. But given the sensible behaviour of their other dogs it struck me how differently they must have treated the dachshund and I suppose this was inevitable given that he was bought as a baby substitute and not given the dignity of being a dog!
Next week's trailer showing the Yorkshire Terror looked interesting too!

Yeah I was just saying that to someone this morning - it seemed like he was getting exactly as he wanted from the door bell exercise. I could have understood that approach if he had been barking out of excitement at someone at the door and he wasn't allowed to greet them until he was quiet. But it seemed like he didn't really want the visitor to come in so each time he barked someone came back from the door and didn't open it. I missed the first bit of the program though so thought maybe I'd mis-interpreted something. Also that lad getting right up in the dogs face like that was disgusting behavior, but at least he took the telling off and realised it was his fault I guess.

I actually tried to put this post under anna2707 post, don't know why it didn't go in there. :-)
I was a bit confussed by the whole door bell exercise.
Our 10 month old CKCS barks persistently when the door bell rings, we just ignore her and go and open the door, she stays in the lounge and can't get to the front door (baby gate). I'd like to stop her barking, don't mind a couple of warning barks but she drives me nuts when she just keeps going.
I watched with interest when VS was on about training the dog to stop barking when the door bell rang, but found it all too confusing and couldn't really see the advantage. The way I saw it was that if you go back into the room with the door, it's actually getting your attention, several times of doing that and the visitor has gone
Has anyone got any effective tips/advice?

i don't actually think thatt excersise worked fo r all you know they could have been ringing the doorbell for 1hr and you just would have seen it as working instead of him getting tired and not bothering. i wasn't convinced by that technique at all. i also think that a lot of editing goes on in that program so you never get the real way it happpened

I would have liked to give the bloke a good slap too! He didn't tease the springers, so why so stupid with the daxie? And I thought Victoria's face at the ridiculous costumes was priceless!!
Next week - a dog allowed to stand on the table and be spoonfed - wonder what his problems will be???

Looking at the rest of that trailer, Lucy and what he did to that teddy bear I reckon he'll be lucky to escape Victoria's clutches with his nuts intact! ;)

Good point, she is a bit castration mad. Helped settle our Yankee down though, at least when he's by himself he's quieter!
