I'm in the process of getting a pet passport for one of my dogs, so here's what i know. 1. Dog has to be microchipped. 2. Dog has to get a rabies vaccination. 3.One month later dog gets a 2nd rabies vaccination. 4. A month after that, the dog has to be bloodtested. If the dog doesn't have the required amount of rabies antibodies, they get vaccinated again. If the bloodtest is ok(sufficient amount of antibodies)you can get your pet passport.
You can then take your pet to another country.
What they didn't tell me is that i can take my dog out of the country straight away , but my dog cannot re-enter the country until i have the petpassport for 6 months. I'm in Ieland but i'm pretty sure that it's the same in the UK.
So if anyone is thinking of getting a pet passport, apply well in advance of when you need it.
