What did you all think of Ben's 'presenting' at CRUFTS???
He needs to brush up a bit on the breeds, groups, etc.

It would also be nice for him to know when his que is to talk. But besides that I have never laughed so much, or enjoyed CRUFTS commentary before!!
Up the toffs!!!!! What a top bloke

i think he did alot better tonight. Was AWGUL last night
He was on country file earlier and was good, He didnt have the auto cue with him on that program!!!
Still will gladly teach him the ins and outs of dogs if he said yes ;) ;)
Lea :D :D :D :D

absolute rubbish hes better sticking with the rowing LOL

Not very good but there were some hilarious bits, although I don't think that they should of been as funny as they were :d I must admit that I'd rather the bloke from Blue Peter did it next year!
I thought he was dreadful. It was like he was presenting a children's programme.
Bring back the horsey woman from last year, at least she asked more intelligent questions, or the man from Blue Peter, at least he didn't get so flustered.

We went for the first time and my hubby thought Clare Balding (horsey woman) would be there presenting and was looking forward to trying to catch sight of her (he's a racing fan), LOL
Ben Fogle was hopeless but he did provide lots of laughs, wonder if he'll be on next year, LOL

I hope so

but maybe just out and about chatting to folk, eh! :D
Personally I think they realised that Ben wasn't all that good and brought the Blue Peter guy in a bit more to keep the flow :)
Hilarious bits - laughing at him not with him, bless him eh  :D

Useless! It was almost as bad as Angela Rippon with her "Suuuuupreme Champion"..........

I must say he has been the best commentary in a long time nice too see we got rid of that fool that is on top gear with his silly joke

You thought Ben Fogle's commentary was
good?

Maybe compared to if we'd had the Teletubbies commentating. :D
He made me cringe with his pausing and stammering into the camera. Hope it's Claire next year :D

Or the Flowerpot Men, perhaps! :D

It was ok, Considering this was his first crufts next year i'm sure he will be on the ball 100% and you will all be here saying "that was fab" remeber you know that there is millions and millions of people all over the world look at you.

He's a good roving reporter, chatting to people, but hopeless at studio work, I'm afraid. Being easy on the eye and well-spoken isn't enough!

I still stand by what i said he was ok for his first time, and will only get better as time goes on

I agree JG. I love his out and about stuff and he comes over as being a nice bloke but he's gone down in my estimation. He just came over to me as a twit! Perhaps he's OK if it's rehearsed and can retake if necessary and jusy useless live? Maybe it's about knowing your subject? He might be talking rubbish about the other stuff but I wouldn't know any different? But the bottom line is, for whatever reason, he was pretty useless.
I think i put this on the other thread but can't remember..oh well forgive me if i am repeating myself!
i think Ben would be good WITH Clare Balding as she can clear up any mistakes he makes and he can make it a bit more attractive to look at!! ;-)
Anyone that has watched racing with Clare and Willie Carson will know that she is very good at keeping the show going despite a prat that gets everything wrong (including the names of the horses and the races!!)
Definatley glad they got rid of Richard hammond. Peter Purves next...........?

He was dreadful but I was rather taken with his relationship with his dog.

I got the impression that he wasn't used to having an ear mic - I wouldn't be able to talk fluidly with someone yapping in my ear. He does better on animal park when it's just him in his head.

He was definatly cringe-worthy to watch.
Saying that though, I think he has good people skills which you can't really teach, just not the breed knowledge which you can! I'd be willing to give him another chance if he brushed up on his background information a bit more, and at least he'd visited Crufts before being paid to present it unlike those from previous years!
Seeing as those he's useless at the studio work, they should just scrap having the studio altogether, who needs it anyway?
