I thought my bitch was in pup but when we had her scanned it showed that she was not. However, she has now come into milk and is convinced that she is going to have puppies. She digs up her bed, collects toys and puts them in her nest etc. Is there anything I should do or just let it take its natural course?? She is nearly 7 and this would have been her 3rd and last litter. I was going to have her spayed.

Hard as it may sound I would remove all her toys and keep out of her bed as much as you can with lots of nice long walks, games etc leaving her too tired to do anything in her bed but sleep.  Any opportunity to brood just stimulates the hormones that make her produce milk and mope about thinking of missing pups.  If milk production is bad you can get a product Galostop from the vet but I have never had to resort to this using the occupy elsewhere method :)

My 3 year old is going through the same at the moment, her last season was end of January, she is full of milk, has an expanding ribcage, I am 100% certain she hasn't been mated!  This is a first phantom for her and us, so we've been taking her for extra walks and not fussing over her, we've removed all her toys and soft blankets too.

Fingers crossed it passes soon, if not then we'll be off to the vet for something to help dry up the milk.

Very convincing though isn't it!

My bitch WAS mated. she behaved as if in pup, putting on weight, getting a bit moody, just everything you would expect. I have removed all the toys which is a bit difficult as we have a 16 week old pup who now thinks that she has been naughty!?? Hope this will pass soon.
