Well, I walked in from the kitchen to the living room and there was a Burglar!!! He turned tail and ran, jumped over TWO 6 ft fences! But the B***ard took my purse and ALL my credit cards, driving license and money! He also took a cam corder(older one Derek was copying the tapes to the DVD's) and the stand, which was prob worth more than the recorder itself! I WILL recognise him again and he better look out! The police have been and cards cancelled, good job I've got 2 massive Newfies to put them off huh (she said sighing, why didn't I stick to Dobes??) Just couldn't believe it as Derek was in the other room and I was in the Kitchen!! What a cheek!! Have to admire his athletic ability though! Can't figure out which way he came in?? What a downer huh??? Just had to rant...sorry! Hope nobody else suffers this, all the best, Dawn

PS Suppose it could have been worse in that the doggies are still here and no-one was hurt!

Sorry to hear this :( It's horrible to think that someone can just waltz into your home and help themselves to your possessions Scumbags!! I had my purse stolen a few years ago and although there was little money in it, it was so inconvenient to have to cancel all the cards and change the front door lock as my key was in it too :(

At least no-one is hurt but I'm sure you're pretty shaken up. Flippin' useless Newfies :rolleyes: I always said the only way a Newfie would stop a burglar was if he happened to trip over it :rolleyes: I'd be more wary of the Yorkies myself ;)

Your contents insurance might cover lost cash (depending on the terms of the policy) but I guess it depends how much was stolen and how much your excess is to determine whether it's worth making a claim.

Well, the scenes of crime are on their way now and it's been handed over to CID, they say the description I gave is distinctive and they may have someone in mind!? Let's hope so, I'm never going to get the money back am I? and really it's not important in the scheme of things is it??? They could have kicked the wee dogs or done anything, they're probably patients here(we live at the Surgery) so I will be asking the girls and rest of the Dr's on Monday of the description rings any bells!! But mainly I am angry that soomone has the nerve to do it! I charge me scooter up via the back door, when I've been out with the girls, so I reckon they must have cased us out before...just maddening, that they have the nerve to come in whilst we're here!!

You know most home orbbereis happen when the home owners are inside?
The burglars just walk in the front or back door, take what they want and walk off.

We had it happen once, I lived in an odd little house that had the toilet almost outside, directly facing the back door and I heard someone come up the back steps while I was in there, I knew it wasnt my faincee because he was away at the time.
So I opened the door and gave the guy the fright of his life. I bet that was the first time he had been startled by an angry punky woman on the loo!

What a terrible thing to happen, thank goodness Newfiedreams that no one was hurt

My MIL was at home on her own and was robbed.  My In-laws didn't realise at first as my MIL thinks it must have happened while she was in the kitchen cooking.  They had money, passports and cards stolen from the bedroom upstairs.  The scariest thing was that the wooden banister had deep gouges left in it which can only have been done with a sharp object, most likely a knife!

Someone I worked with was engaged to a detective who at the point of being burgled lived on his own. The thieves took out the whole living room window, frame and all and took all the entertainment equipment i.e. TV, music stuff.  The detective was asleep upstairs and never heard a thing.  He replaced all the items within a couple of months and hey presto he was burgled again in the exact same way!

My dog is a pain and barks at people who enter the street :rolleyes: and goes absolutely potty at anyone approaching the house.  I suppose this is a positive point though in this respect.

Ohh fanks Husky! Good news is that the people buying the house have had survey and valuation done and all is well ad want to move in at end of March...so onward and upward, the pig that came in here is probably a patient here at the practice so I'm gonna do me own bit if investigating!!!

Oh my god, that is terrible!!!! To be violated like that in your own home . I'm just wondering how come your dogs never reacted? Didn't they hear the guy?? Didn't they bark at all? I know my dog would probably freak out completely and i don't believe anyone can get into my house without being noticed ...... no chance of that!

The dogs DO react normally!!!Especially when it's dark! They've seen off a couple of Burgaly attempts at the Chemist(next door to our Surgery) when they've tried to get in through the roof and through the back fence where they live...they bark if someone disturbs them...but last night even the wee dogs didn't hear them, they were in the Kitchen with me...and I usually hear stuff like people moving around and it's Derek whose the deaf one LOL

if the dogs didn't react would that be a sign that it was someone that was familliar to them?  My dog only ever reacts to noise if it is created by someone she doesn't know but even so rarely barks during the day.  she doesn't stir for the usual postie but if it is a different one or someone delivering leaflets she is right up at the door (crying and wagging her tail rather than barking and sounding scary though :rolleyes:)  Sorry to hear about your break in and hope it hasn't distressed you too much.  Housebreakers are total scum

i know what that feel like all too well, we lived in a large 9 bedroom student house- was very secure but in bad area.
we were burgled 6 times in 5 months, 2 were while we were all there, one of my friends found one burgler and he was told to get back down stairs or he'll stab him! luckily those times we were ok.
they took cds, general electrical items and had the cheek to go around the local cafes trying to flog them- for drugs...

the last time was night before we all were going home for xmas, they obviously thought we had gone already, but only me and one other girl were in the house. i went to ground floor and heard some glass smashing and men whispering down stairs in the lower level, i then made the decision that i wasnt going to scare them off but get them caught instead as i'd had enough.

i crept upstairs and told my mate, she had to hear it herself, after she realised we called police and locked ourselves in her bedroom, the police said we'll be there asap. as we were waiting we could hear these men charging about, slowly making their way up to our floor(3rd), and as they tried the door handle we saw police van outside- we waved and pointed to the access door, as they were getting in,  the burglers were trying to kick our door down whilst shouting 'get the tools', we had nothing to protect ourselves and thought we were going to get killed as the men knew we were in there- we were trying to be quiet but we were both crying. as the door nearly gave in the police broke the bottom door in and shouted 'police' we then heard some scarper and some getting a beating off police. we then saw them getting put in van, even then tho we wouldnt open bedroom door to police- we were in total shock.

we had to have counselling and witness protection as one man had got away he jumped out of a 3rd floor window.

luckily our physical evidence got the 4 40 year old men put in jail for 5 years- at the time of the burglery they were on heroine and very hyped up- if they had got to us - they could have done anything- we were only 17/18.

we moved from that area but i never felt safe and still cant be left unless i know somehow i'll be safe!

so yes- i know how you feel- powerless, sorry very longwinded!!

Thanks for all your support..the big girls are Newfies, they've even stood there wagging their tails in the Park when a bloke attacked me last year...(I suppose I attacked him technically!!) I raged at him 'cos Storm went running past him and a bit of slime flew off and he threatened to kick her...which he actually did when she ran past him again...I grabbed him(don't know why, he was bigger than me?? I wasn't going to smack him or anything!!) the girls just stood  there whilst me and this bloke were face to face so to speak!!! Great guarding breed huh???

But God has a wonderful way of compensating you! We went down to the house we're selling and found a water bill there, that shows us £181 in credit as Derek has been paying it anyway!! So, he got money out for me anyway and bought the shopping, which I usually get! New Driving license is £29!!! What a rip off!!

It's funny isn't it....last weekend I caught the Van on the gate when it was swinging in the wind(must remember NOT to take shortcuts and hook the gate anyways!!) damaged the side door and sill, this week the Burgalry, so I'm angry and frustrated, but otherwise quite sane(well, for me anyways!) and yet someone can say something unpleasant to me, like the local scallies taking the p*** in the Park and I find that really shatters me??? What am I like??? Takes on Burglars and men in the Park, crash the Van, but crumbles form a few unkind words??? Now where's the number for the Pyschiatrist??? LOL

i know exactly what you mean- but it shows that when you are faced head on with a situation- you just face it- or grab it literally in your case!!! ive done the same- im only 5 ft 4in and 8 stone- i run club nights and take money on the door- in the past when i get scallies coming in saying 'na man- i dont have to pay' blah blah- they actually quite threatening and ive had to grab em by the collar and drag em outside where i call the 6 ft bouncer over to tell him to go away nicely! at the time its all i can do- must look hilarious, but now we do the night regularly the boys dont mess with me!!

good on ya- but dont listen to those scallies- they are just bored sad creatures! xx

Phew, what a week you've had.  I honestly don't know what I would do if faced with a stranger in my house, I don't think you can know unless it actually happens to you.  Still you have found your silver lining in the £181.  I felt lucky when I found a fiver in my waterproof jacket last week, £181 would feel like the lottery at the moment. :D

I just wanted to say that when people say things that are unpleasant, look at the people who are talking.  IMO if the people who are saying nasty things are unimportant nobodies then what they say is worthless  ;)

My goodness there are some scumbags about!!

Hope you manage to recognise the sw*ne and get him caught.  You never know, he just might fall sick (or hurt himself escaping :) ) and need to see a doctor, and you can have the police waiting outside for him when he's done :D :D 

Glad he didn't harm you or your dogs tho, that would have made it soo much worse.

Thanks Dawn, thoughts very much appreciated. :)  It's a nuisance but life's a roller coaster and I have a feeling that this year should be an upward curve.

That reminds of being about 17 and in a night club, many years ago....some bloke thought it was funny to pinch my bum!  I shocked myself, There was I two hands on the lapels of his jacket (It was a long time ago) He was almost off his feet, my knees started knocking as I wondered what I was doing...
It shows doesn't it that you never know how you will react to any situation.

So sorry,awful shock for you the hard faced swines. Probobly after money for drugs.We got burgled a couple of years ago night before christmas eve,we were in bed one dog upstairs and our elderly lab was downstairs on the sofa, all my chrismas money gone but I was more concerned that the dog leads taken, I was upset as I thought they had taken my old girl outside while one of them was in the house looking for money,they also pinched our car to use for other breakins,when we found it there was kids christmas presents in it.
