My friend telephoned today, the one with the Jack Russell, asking me to post a question on Champdogs for her.  Basically her JRT keeps on eating pooh  she would like to know if there is anything she can do to stop him doing this, it would seem that he is not too fussy about it's origins but he is rather partical to dog pooh!!!  she has heard about sprinkling pepper on it to deter him but how can she go around the fields sprinkling pepper on every pooh she sees?  I thought that was very funny!  Anyway she is desperate and at a loss to know what to do.  What can I tell her?

My JRT is a professional Poo eater,  He will poo and if I am not standing behind him to clean it up immeadiatly turn round and eat it.  He will eat any dogs poo any cats poo any fox poo the list is endless.  In fact i have yet to find a poo he won't eat.
I believe some grow out of it and others never do  its just a thing they have to do.  All you can do is be aware and try to avoid them doing it.
Late at night, much to the amusement of my neighbours as soon as my JRT squats to poo I charge down the garden rain or snow in my dressing gown and slippers with torch bag and shovel in hand to scoop it straight up before he can finish and eat it :rolleyes:

I read somewhere that dogs eat poo because they lack something in their diet? Not sure if its true! Maybe she could take something on the walks to distract him from eating it like a ball or a sqeeky toy?
