Right, don't think we got an answer to Margot's request for a book for March? If we did and I missed it, let me know.
My suggestion was 'We Need To Talk About Kevin' by Lionel Shriver. I confess, I've read it before, but found it gripping and would be keen to read it again and discuss.

Gets my vote, I too have very recently read this & thoroughly enjoyed it, fascinating insight! I haven't read Feb's book yet so having this as a discussion in March would give me time to catch up!

looks good to me, although I also havent finished this months book yet

Any other suggestions from people?

That one is O.K. by me!! I don't think that it would have necessarily been my choice but I think that is the whole idea of a book club........to get us to read and maybe enjoy books we may not have chosen ourselves!

Bouncing for Book Club day ... any other suggestions?
M.

Im happy to go with that one. Im still on the kite runner though!! lol

Is this the one that we are going for this month - Ive bought it and almost finished the kite runner!! Going to miss the 2nd one - otherwise Ill never catch up!!
I read the Truth About Kevin recently and was gripped by it, I really was.

When do we have to have it read by....I might be able to get this one in on time!! Ooh, I feel like Im back at school :P

31st March is discussion time ...
M.

I think Im gonna struggle to get this one completed on time. Im only on page 65. Ive got to read 20-30 pages everyday until 30th March if Im going to complete it. Is there any chance we can extend it or is everyone else managing ok??
Also whats that website that you can sell the old books on??

I like to call it 'speed reading' :D

lol. Ive just been given about 30 books from a friend so I think this might be my last book club. :( Oh well. Its been fun while it lasted.
Snow Flower is not the sort of book I'd normally read, but i feel almost privileged to have done so now, because I learnt a few things and also felt I was for a few moments involved in a very different way of life. I felt so sorry for those poor women though, thank goodness things are changing...

I read the first one but haven't handed in my homework :)

You could try selling your old books on www.greenmetropolis.com. (Sorry, link not working.)

Hi Tracey, I too am finding "We need to talk about Kevin" a 'slow' book to read for some reason! I am enjoying it though! I am looking forward to discussing it on the 31st........at least we have 31 days in March! :)

Put "the kite runner" on that website yesterday and this morning I got an email saying it was sold! Will try that for all the books I buy in future. I get £3.00 for it. If I was to sell it at a carboot or something Id only get 20p lol. Its great!

Think any of the popular ones sell very quickly on there, it's quite useful - and environmentally friendly too!

All of you who are finding this months books a bit hard going pls pls stick with it, I had the same problem but persevered & am glad I did now! :)
Selling on books is a fab idea

- might end up falling out with local charity shop though

, they usually get my cast offs!
Enjoy reading!

I think when Kevin actually arrives, it will probably become a bit more gripping for them Gemma. I couldn't put it down the first time I read it.
If you feel guilty about the charity shops, you could always split your profit 50/50, they probably only make 50p a book anyway.
M.

Im on page 225 - about half way through I think.
I have just finished "We need to talk about Kevin"....what a riveting book, I can't wait for the discussion on March 31st!
