- By sallyk [gb] Date 02.03.06 20:28 UTC
having read on cd that there is no such thing as a blue staff- it is dilute black apparently, i have been writing to free add breeders saying blue is not a recognised colour only to check on KC site on staff colours and yes BLUE is a colour!!!!!!!!!!!! now i feel stupid, i suppose i should have done my research first!

Never mind Sallyk
For years I thought I'd never seen a white GSD - only to discover I'd seen loads of them, I just didn't realise that they were actually cream :D

talking of german shepherds i also saw an add for a stud- long haired, now i picked up on cd that long hair is not recognised by kc??? i told the free add person this and she said he was kc reg and so would his puppies be too ?!!!:confused:

Just because it is a fault in the show ring does not mean that the dog cannot be registered - provided it is bred from KC registered sire and dam.   Long haired GSD can be born from short haired parents - it's the intentional breeding of two dogs carrying the same fault or undersirable qualities which is frowned upon.  Largely litters bred thus (in any breed) are bred for the pet market, certainly not for the improvement of the breed.

blue is a stafford colour, undesirable, but it comes from a diluted black gene to make that colour.  are you interested in a blue stafford?   please do not pay the horrendous prices as they are not rare, as many people are saying.

There was a gorgeous litter at my vets the other day, I thought that they were puppy Neapolitan's at first.  Luckily their breeders weren't so greedy as to say that they were rare !

Blue  is not a FAULT in the SBT show ring and it is not an undesired colour in the standard
There are unscrupulous breeders who claim it is rare (it is not) and charge a thousand pounds or so- no matter what the dog looks like

so if long hair gsd is a fault in the show ring- should this woman be offering her dog at stud? i will write back and ask her.

i have written to her and then had to write again when i saw that blue is an undesirable colour and the stud she is using is blue long hair and she also uses white long hair, so i moaned about that too! i suppose i should mind my own business really

some people like long haired GSDs!
a long haired GSD could have alot to offer as a stud dog, especailly if it excels at OB or WT
life dosent begin & end with the breed ring!
