I absolutely love this.  Watched the last series and the new series is just as gripping for me.  Last night had me cringing and giggling with embarrassment at Nargis' presenting.  Wasn't she terrible?  Then she tried to blame the Lawer who had never presented before.  Definitely the right one for "You're Fired!" :D

Will irritating Jo be able to contain her emotional outbursts?  I doubt it somehow.
- By Carla Date 02.03.06 09:06 UTC
I love it too - its just toe-curlingly, embarrassingly, cringeworthily brilliant!

As a saleswoman I was just *dying* to watch her presenting - "can I finish?" arrrgh!!
- By Charanda [de] Date 02.03.06 09:10 UTC
I love this too (and get home from work just in time to watch it)

Nargis last night was truly cringe-worthy.  "Let me finish my presentation and then you can ask me questions".  **Takes breath**  "right, you can now ask me questions".

And then she STILL couldn't answer them!!  :D

Definitely the right one to be fired IMO.

I like the firey woman (Jo), she reminds me of myself in some ways though I have learned to know when to shut up now - something I think Mr Sugar will be teaching her pretty quick  ;-)
- By Carla Date 02.03.06 09:21 UTC
I couldn't stand her in the first episode, but I am warming to her. She's passionate, rough around the edges, untamed and a bit wild. Just like her hair LOL
- By Charanda [de] Date 02.03.06 09:32 UTC
I was the same - all of her screaming and jumping around in the first episode did my head in and I remember thinking, what an awful woman, I couldn't cope with her but actually, I realised that as you said, she's passionate and rough round the edges.

She reminds me of myself as I've been known in the past to make myself heard (nice way of putting it) but I've learned over the years that sometimes less is more and I know when to keep quiet or, just when I've said enough.  ;-)

I haven't seen any of this series but I remember the last one very well.  Picture this - we're on honeymoon in Tintagel..... staying in a very nice but cheap place..... first night of the honeymoon I get ready for bed... so does hubby... then he gets OUT of bed and turns the TV on  "but it's the last night of the apprentice darling!!!!" LOL
- By Charanda [de] Date 02.03.06 09:41 UTC
lol Surannon :D  :D
- By newfiedreams Date 02.03.06 12:00 UTC
I truly cannot believe how much some of the people on there are so far up their own...ermm...fing! LOL It was TRULY embarrassing to watch, I kept screaming at the telly, bit like Jo really! LOL Sir Alan, take me...these losers don't stand a chance! What about the bloke in the first episode that wanted to call the team The A Team!!! I couldn't stop laughing! That presentation last night was one to show to trainees on How NOT to do it!! I couldn't stop laughing! Great series!
- By HuskyGal Date 02.03.06 12:15 UTC
I second me learned friend Newfie!! lol :D

Lets not forget tho' ladies....The boys team have 'burst into tears' much more than the girls ;)

Hope alot of the old City Firms all male boardrooms are watching this!! :D
Big Girls Blouses!! :D
- By newfiedreams Date 02.03.06 12:19 UTC
YEAH! How stressed can a body get???? Ohh let's cry....sob sob! I said to Derek, if they think that's a stressful environment they want to try saving a few lives in A&E when you have a Major incident!!! A Nurse that couldn't cope would last about 5 minutes! And we still had time for Black humour! Sadly the only way to stay sane! Though the culture of blame was NEVER apparent!
- By Carla Date 02.03.06 12:51 UTC
Hang on a sec though - they have all given up their jobs to do this. The pressure on them of the tasks, the backstabbing, the instigated bitching and fighting, the provocation, the fear of failure and that many personalities forced to live together under the view of the cameras must be immense. Yes, they choose to do it, but IMO Alan Sugar pics the one who he wants from the CV's at the start and the rest are just put in for our entertainment.

If they were worthy of a 6 figure salary they shouldn't have to go on a show to get it - they'd be headhunted.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 02.03.06 12:55 UTC
Excellent point about being headhunted if they were any good!
- By HuskyGal Date 02.03.06 12:47 UTC
Seconding you even more after that good example Newf!!
Think we may have found the ideal new team captain.....Send in Newf!!! :D :p :D
- By CherylS Date 02.03.06 15:10 UTC
What about the guy who was singing his own praises regarding his presentation skills, supposed to have vast experience in presenting to executives blah blah?  Where were those skills? What happened? Did I blink and miss them? When he thought anyone was daring to criticise him he lashed them with his aggressive foul tongue....... very professional - NOT!

Can't wait for next episode :D
- By newfiedreams Date 02.03.06 15:13 UTC
WOW just back from walking the Girls and have I got rosy cheeks!!! LOL It's FREEZING and snowing...YAY I love the snow!!

Can't you just see some of their..ermm...LOVELY characteristics though?? I think a couple of them are plain EVIL, especially the women!!! You can see the spite and envy bubbling beneath the facade of 'TEAM PLAYING' LOL:eek:

I seriously think the only reason they apply is because they believe their own fantasy about how good they are!!  I agree and I'm sure that any top notch negotiator of entrepreneur worth their salt is snapped up by Head Hunters and word soon gets around if they are any good.

I'm sorry, but I feel that all they are doing is promoting their own importance and anyone giving up a well paid job to go through that will soon get another job offer if they are worth their weight in Gold!!! However, I can't see any potential employers snapping up the rejects yet!!! LOL:eek:
- By CherylS Date 02.03.06 15:20 UTC
I think you can have all the top skills possible but if you can't work as an equal partner in a team you're stuffed.  Group work is extremely difficult when you have a mix of strong personalities all trying to prove their worth.  There is a concept that refers to "storming, norming and performing" stages where group work is concerned. We've definitely seen storming and as the groups start to settle in we should start to see norming and then the performing as individuals start to find their feet and niches within the group.

Last year Nick (think that's his name) was hardly noticable to begin with but was a team player throughout.
- By sandrah Date 02.03.06 15:38 UTC
Couldn't believe how many of them broke down in tears last night.  For goodness sake, get a life.  I can only think they have never had a job working twelve hours a day under pressure.  Unfortunately I and many others didn't have the six figure salary to go with it.

As for Jo, I think AS summed her up really well........"Can you imagine working with her" LOL

The girls presentation was just so embarrassing and she was so rude and aggressive..........just awful.

Love the program though, can't wait until next Wednesday. :)
- By newfiedreams Date 02.03.06 15:45 UTC
I think you're spot on Cheryl...I think it takes an extra, extra special person to have those skills...they need to 'think out of the box' and put all ermm...personality differences...to one side. I think Nick was great, but I think he was so successful before the programme I couldn't see why he wanted to be there?? Maybe for the challenge? What happened to the lad that won? I can't remember his name!(was it Chris??) There was a program on him a couple of weeks ago, but I missed it darn it!
- By CherylS Date 02.03.06 16:03 UTC
I got the name wrong, Tim was the winner last year.  There was a programme about him 2 weeks ago. It showed him working for Alan Sugar but I didn't see the end.  AS seemed to have a lot of respect for Tim but didn't think he deserved the 6 figure sum yet so don't know what Tim is doing now.

Trouble with some of the upstarts is that they are so full of their own self importance that they are not prepared to listen.  Sometimes it is the quieter ones that have the considered ideas but don't have a chance to put forward their ideas without being interupted or shouted down.  A good leader will listen and value everyone's ideas.
- By Carla Date 02.03.06 16:48 UTC
They never actually tell us what the job involves, so its therefore impossible to predict the winner. I do know that I don't think ANY of them deserve a 6 figure salary!
- By Teri Date 02.03.06 16:55 UTC
Could be paying them six figures in lira  ....  (oh - they're all Euro thingies now aren't they :confused:I need to travel further afield :D
- By peewee [gb] Date 02.03.06 17:03 UTC
Well, I watched it for the 1st time (didn't see any of the last series either) and I'm def a convert! :D

For a hospital, and a children's hospital to boot what on earth made the girls go for cats!?!?  I don't deny that the piccies of the little purdies were good but that was down to the photographer not them.  The boys idea was good and the pics were good too - shame about the totally novice design though.  If the babies calendar had been done in the 'contempary style' of the kitties calendar (obviously with a useful layout for dates and recording info on it *doh girls!*) that would have been really good!

That scary-haired woman is just plain irritating but I do like her passion!  I was arguing with my Mum last night cos she was in favour of what the (majority of the) girls were doing with that calendar and I was totally behind frizz ball - what a geni-mouse I am ;) haha

That woman team leader was appallingly bad both at presenting and being a team leader!  I'm only 24 but even I know how NOT the do a pitch, how NOT to be a team leader etc etc   Why oh why oh why didn't she take note from the first abismal pitch and re-hash the schpeel/how she actually spoke!?!?!  I, along with the people she was pitching too was totally baffled when she'd pause for aaages after the "You can ask me any questions..." then just carry on spurting just as someone was asking her a question   If I'd been on that team I'd have apologised profusely for the crapness to the first 'potential client' on the way out and apologised to all the others on the way in!! haha

That fella spending 1 hour explaining how to brainstorm to the boys - like, just get on with it mate!! hahaha  I liked the young fella who was doing the (rather poor) design of the calendar - the one who cried cos all the others just took over and gave him no praise for what he'd done which was like all of it up until they came in!!  Poor little luv *hugs for him*

Ego's are well and truly a-go-go in that program though aren't they!  Roll on next week! ;)
- By Lindsay Date 02.03.06 17:51 UTC
I love it, I can't believe how easy it is to get hooked on this programme!

When i saw the calendars I was really surprised (or not :D ) as the girls hadn't really made a calendar (as in, to hang on your wall and check dates type calendar) which was plain daft. Contemporary or not, a calendar is a calendar and should act like one! :P

I didn't really like the baby calendar either, as the children were all seemingly crying or unhappy! I'd feel miserable looking at it on my wall.

I quite like Jo at the moment, although she's got to learn how to temper herself so the whole team can move forwards. OK she should be honest, but then having said her piece, go with what the majority decide as she is a team member.

JMO though! :P

I didn't watch the last series but have seen the first episode and will watch the catch ups on Tuesday from now on

I didn't really rate many of them as they were all trying a tad to hard

I work in this sort of environment full of people up their own ar8es trying to impress and believe me they make right pratts of themselves

I think that you must be yourself and show that you can think clearly and logically when under pressure and it will no doubt put you on a higher footing than most people :) Proactive instead of reactive is my moto at work  Being reactive shows you are not in control ;)

The one that really stuck out that is next in line for the P45 is the HR woman who started crying when Alan was having a go at the girls for the approach they took, cringe worthy. She can't take pressure or constructive critisim without crumbling, a big weakness.

They way alot of the women kissed or gave people hugs for things they did was also so very wrong  For flippin hecks sake we are trying to gain respect in the work place and that sort of behaviour is totally unacceptable and makes us look although that using our bodies and feminine attributes will help us climb the ladder  No we do it by merit and talent and not our bodies

Rant over ! (Had a bad day so this has helped me get it out of my system :D :D )

I say Teri do you think I would have been good at the Presentation then ;) :D
- By Teri Date 02.03.06 19:28 UTC
LOL just catching up with this (had already pm'd you ;) )  Think you would have been absolutely brilliant Lucy but perhaps not today :D

I've watched the last couple of these (can't take Donald Duck, woops, Trump seriously with that hat  ) and they are SO addictive but have to agree I do wonder how some (all) of them manage to make a short list with the OTT attitudes they have.

Guess I'll stay at home - where I'm the boss
- By Carla Date 02.03.06 20:52 UTC

> but have to agree I do wonder how some (all) of them manage to make a short list with the OTT attitudes they have.

cos they make good tele :D
- By Teri Date 02.03.06 20:53 UTC
Agreed :D :D :D
- By CherylS Date 08.03.06 19:02 UTC
Apparently Scary Hairy Jo is team leader tonight.  I wonder if this means she will get "You're Fired!" :D
- By newfiedreams Date 08.03.06 19:16 UTC
HA HA She is a bit scary isn't she??!!! LOL Can't wait to see her in action!!
- By lumphy [gb] Date 08.03.06 22:41 UTC
Well she didnt disapoint did she. As nutty as a fruit cake but still there.

I think Sir Alan likes her spirit and knows what is good telly. He wont employ her as she will drive him mad but he will keep her around and get rid of some of the others but she wont be in the final. I hope lol

Can't believe that an HR person has such poor people skills  Enjoyed the programme but she is turning out to be a main focus. I want to see more of how the others are developing.
- By Oldilocks [in] Date 09.03.06 07:24 UTC
I wouldn't like to work with her!  She's a 'Backstabber'!!!
- By newfiedreams Date 09.03.06 22:48 UTC
She is just totally and utterly NUTS!!!!:eek::eek:
