Is it the same were you live? they have closed loads of petrol stations in our area. So the few that we have, always have large queues, and keep running out of petrol. It's a mission to fill the car!
Similar story by us now I come to think of it. About 3 petrol stations have closed locally in recent years and have to travel abou 3 miles to get fuel. There is one closer, but it is usually out of petrol by the time I get there. So frustrating.
The two in the village closed years ago, when the law changed that petrol pumps had to be metric-only. It was too expensive to change them, so they closed. :( Now the nearest petrol station is 4 miles away.
My nearest is 9 miles away, and then there are 2 only petrol stations supplying the whole town and surrounding countryside..... BUT I tend to fill up 30odd miles away while doing shopping etc, since its around 6p per ltr cheaper
There was always one thing that surprised me every time I visited UK. How come every petrol station in UK has different prices? In my country we have fixed prices everywhere and it would be against the law to set your own prices individually. Same prices everywhere you go....small town or the motorway.....
No, it pays to shop around here. Every garage can set its own price, basically depending on what the owner thinks the market can stand (motorway service stations tend to be pricy). The small independent garages are usually (though oddly, not always) more expensive than the big supermarket chains.
